March 17

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Look for spelling words in Monday's red folder. We continue to examine vowels and listen for long and short vowel sounds. We are beginning to recognize patterns that create the long vowel sound. This week, encourage your student to notice which words have the long "e" sound and which words have the short "e" sound. What do you think is helping the long "e" make that special sound?

Report Cards

Report Cards go home on Monday March 17. Keep the contents of the envelope at home. Please sign and return the envelope. It will be used throughout the school year. If you have any questions or concerns about the report card, please let me know.

Food Drive

From March 13 through March 21, Bryant will be joining the Ann Arbor Public Schools in a district-wide food drive to support Food Gatherers. Each class will be collecting dried and canned food items to be donated to Food Gatherers to benefit families in need. If you would like to donate food to this cause, you may send your food items with your child to school anytime between the March 13 and March 21. Collection boxes are located outside the office doors. Some examples of items we are collecting are: canned fruits and vegetables, canned or dried soups, canned beans, tuna fish, dried fruit, juice boxes, bottled water, cereals, oats, dried snack foods, dried pasta, macaroni and cheese, rice, ramen noodles, canned pasta and pasta sauce, and much more. We hope that you will join us in this district-wide effort to give back to our community and reach out to those in need. Thank you in advance for your participation and helping to make this food drive a success!

March is Reading Month!

On Thursday, "teachers go bananas" and visit different classrooms sharing books. On 3/28, students may dress as their favorite book characters.

Throughout the month, mystery readers visit the classroom. Sign up here:

or contact me for a time to read.

Coffee with the Principals 3/19

Would you like to chat with Mrs. Heyward and Ms. Alston from Pattengill? Meet them in the Barnes and Noble coffee shop on Wednesday 3/19 at 9:00am.

The classroom could use donations of snack. Ask your child what they like on the snack list! Thanks to those families who have recently sent in donations of snacks, wipes and sanitizer.
