August 9, 2020

I hope you are enjoying your summer with family and friends! Although this summer is a little different than most summers, it still affords us the opportunity to make some great memories. The summer has been a busy one for Whiteley. We had construction on our office to create a secured entrance. The workers are putting on the final touches and we will soon be back in the office. Our building leadership team has met throughout the summer, trying to keep up with the guidelines and plan for the 2020-2021 school year. Many of the staff participated in professional development over the summer and connected to work on lessons and units of study. We are excited to get our new school year underway.

This year we will continue to host Meet the Teacher and Curriculum Night. These events will both be held virtually. Meet the Teacher will take place on Friday, August the 14th at 1:30. Teachers will connect with families via video. They will take time to do a quick introduction, share first week expectations, what virtual platform they will be using for virtual learning, and share some other information. Our Curriculum Night/Parent Orientation will take place on August 26th. Families with children in grades 4th-6th will have their virtual Curriculum Night from 6:00-6:30. Families with children I grades K-3rd will have their virtual Curriculum Night from 6:45-7:15. During this time teachers will share specifics about the curriculum, learning objectives and expectations, procedures and routines

Recently, the district shared the date for parents to be informed about their child’s teacher assignment. This will occur on Friday, August 14th. Families will be able to find this information by logging into Infinite Campus.

We are excited to be able to provide a device for all of our learners. Our pick-up time for Chromebooks and learning materials will take place on the 17th and 18th of August. Weather permitting we will be doing our pick-up outdoors at door 3. This is our door that is next to the cafeteria and where we have our carpool lane. We ask that parents have a piece of paper with your last name on it placed on the dashboard as you pull-up. You will also need a pen to sign for the device. We will have staff ready to bring the materials to your car. Please see the pick-up times below.
