A Message from Mrs. Fantaskey

Health & Safety Reminders

In recent weeks, we have seen a higher number of individuals who have tested positive for Covid. As always, the health and safety of our students and staff members remains a priority for us. As we follow the health and safety plan, if your child is exhibiting symptoms, we ask that you keep them home until the symptoms have resolved. Please reach out to our health office if you have any questions or concerns. We appreciate your support during this time.

Halloween 2021

Halloween is fast approaching and I wanted to share some details with our community regarding our Halloween parade and festivities. Our festivities will be held on Friday, October 29th in the morning, as this is an early dismissal day and dismissal will begin at 11:50 AM.

  • Parents are asked to line the parade route to view the parade which will follow the bike & hike path around Doyle, as it typically has.
  • Students may wear costumes to school, in order to be ready for the parade. Please make sure they have a bag to place their costume after the parade.
  • Parent Parking - please see the images below for parking details
  • The entrance to the school lot will close at 9:05 AM, so the parade can begin.

Halloween Parties

  • Our teachers have been in contact with homeroom parents for party details for this year.

  • We will make sure students are distanced when eating during the parties.
  • Only those parents who are volunteering at the party (max. of 3 per class) will be permitted to attend the party.

10/18/21 Livestreaming Update from Dr. Lucabaugh

Dear Central Bucks families,

In an effort to provide our students with access to instruction in the event of a COVID-related absence, I am writing to inform you of a livestreaming option available for any student who must remain at home due to COVID-related reasons.

Beginning tomorrow, students who are unable to attend in-person instruction due to COVID-related factors may log in to their classrooms through Microsoft Teams to livestream classroom instruction. Please note that unlike last year’s hybrid delivery model, where teachers interacted with both in-person and virtual students in the classroom setting, teachers will not be directly addressing students who are accessing instruction remotely via this livestreaming option.

In addition, I would also like to remind our families that Tuesday, November 2nd, 2021 (election day) is scheduled as a synchronous online instructional day for students in grades kindergarten through twelfth grade. Teachers will be in school providing live online instruction to students learning from home through teams. Students should log on to their classes via teams according to their regular schedule. Look for additional instructions from your child’s teacher or school regarding this virtual instructional day.

For additional details regarding the logistics of both the livestreaming option and the plan for November 2, 2021, please refer to the attached infographic. Thank you, and please reach out to your child’s principal with any questions regarding this information.

White Cane Safety Day - White Out!

Thank you to all who showed their support by wearing white on Friday, 10/15/21. Following our October fire drill, Mr. Mains braved the rooftop to take a picture of our "white out." It was a great day to bring awareness, share knowledge, and embrace one of our own!

Technology Access for International Travel

Currently, the Technology and Innovation Department blocks Microsoft Office 365 logins to Outlook, OneDrive, ClassLink, and Canvas from foreign countries. This aids in protecting our CBSD user accounts and organization from malicious computer attacks from outside of the United States.

Students who travel cannot assume their devices will work once they leave the United States. For student out-of-country access requests, please know that access to technology for vacations will not be approved at this time.

Counselor's Corner ~ Sparks

Welcome back to Sparks.

You will be receiving these articles on a regular basis through your building’s newsletter with the goal of career education for all Central Bucks students.

Last spring, the students in grades 3-6 were introduced to Smart Futures. Smart Futures is an online career development platform which focuses on grade-specific activities for students and manages the outcomes of the activities in a portfolio which meets the required PA Career Readiness Standards. Classroom teachers will be working with students in Smart Futures. Last year students in grades 3-6 completed a limited number of activities, but this year we will be asking all elementary students to complete the activities for their grade. Any student who chooses, can do the activities in the previous grade band to have a complete portfolio for career readiness. For the most part, students can do the earlier activities independently so it might be an opportunity for you to see Smart Futures at home with your daughter or son. We are asking students not to go beyond the activities assigned to their grade.

SF allows students to discover what they like to do, learn about careers they might want to investigate, and even how to develop a budget. To learn more about SF, watch this short video and you can always ask your child to log onto SF to see what they are learning.
