HEALTH & SAFETY UPDATES
10/18/21 Livestreaming Update from Dr. Lucabaugh
Dear Central Bucks families,
In an effort to provide our students with access to instruction in the event of a COVID-related absence, I am writing to inform you of a livestreaming option available for any student who must remain at home due to COVID-related reasons.
Beginning tomorrow, students who are unable to attend in-person instruction due to COVID-related factors may log in to their classrooms through Microsoft Teams to livestream classroom instruction. Please note that unlike last year’s hybrid delivery model, where teachers interacted with both in-person and virtual students in the classroom setting, teachers will not be directly addressing students who are accessing instruction remotely via this livestreaming option.
In addition, I would also like to remind our families that Tuesday, November 2nd, 2021 (election day) is scheduled as a synchronous online instructional day for students in grades kindergarten through twelfth grade. Teachers will be in school providing live online instruction to students learning from home through teams. Students should log on to their classes via teams according to their regular schedule. Look for additional instructions from your child’s teacher or school regarding this virtual instructional day.
For additional details regarding the logistics of both the livestreaming option and the plan for November 2, 2021, please refer to the attached infographic. Thank you, and please reach out to your child’s principal with any questions regarding this information.
Sincerely,
Abram M. Lucabaugh, Ed.D.

Technology Access for International Travel
Currently, the Technology and Innovation Department blocks Microsoft Office 365 logins to Outlook, OneDrive, ClassLink, and Canvas from foreign countries. This aids in protecting our CBSD user accounts and organization from malicious computer attacks from outside of the United States.
Students who travel cannot assume their devices will work once they leave the United States. For student out-of-country access requests, please know that access to technology for vacations will not be approved at this time.
Counselor's Corner ~ Sparks
Welcome back to Sparks.
You will be receiving these articles on a regular basis through your building’s newsletter with the goal of career education for all Central Bucks students.
Last spring, the students in grades 3-6 were introduced to Smart Futures. Smart Futures is an online career development platform which focuses on grade-specific activities for students and manages the outcomes of the activities in a portfolio which meets the required PA Career Readiness Standards. Classroom teachers will be working with students in Smart Futures. Last year students in grades 3-6 completed a limited number of activities, but this year we will be asking all elementary students to complete the activities for their grade. Any student who chooses, can do the activities in the previous grade band to have a complete portfolio for career readiness. For the most part, students can do the earlier activities independently so it might be an opportunity for you to see Smart Futures at home with your daughter or son. We are asking students not to go beyond the activities assigned to their grade.
SF allows students to discover what they like to do, learn about careers they might want to investigate, and even how to develop a budget. To learn more about SF, watch this short video and you can always ask your child to log onto SF to see what they are learning. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAovnVPPEXc
