A NOTE FROM OUR READING COACH
$1 Bookstore News: Our first bookstore opening of the year was a huge success with around 175 students shopping for a brand new book! The bookstore will be open again on Thursday, November 15 from 7:20 to 8:00 in Mrs. Porter’s room. Please plan to come and shop for a brand new book that only cost $1! We have books for all interests!
Reading Tip: To help improve your child’s reading comprehension, try this simple tip to get him/her thinking more about the story. Make Connections - Connecting what your child already knows while she reads sharpens her focus and deepens understanding. Show her how to make connections by sharing your own connections as you read aloud. Maybe the book mentions places you’ve been together on vacation. Talk about your memories of those places. Invite your child to have a turn. Remind your child that good readers make all kinds of connections as they read.

wherever you look.

all you need is a book.”

BE FANTASTIC Update
The nine weeks has come to an end and our students have been hard at work learning about our BE FANTASTIC essentials. They have used these essentials to show outstanding behavior in the classroom, hallways, and cafeteria and earn tickets for their class. Ten tickets are then exchanged for a shield to be displayed in the hallway.
Each class that earned 10 crickets during the first nine weeks had the opportunity to bring in an item for Show and Tell. The homeroom class with the most shields for each grade level earned an additional surprise.
The following classrooms earned the most crickets for the first nine weeks: Miss Edmunds’ K5 class, Mrs. Anderson’s first grade class, and Mrs. Edward’s second grade class.
Congratulations to all classes that earned 10 shields and held a Show and Tell time. An extra congratulations goes to Miss. Edmunds’, Mrs. Anderson’s, and Mrs. Edwards’ classes for earning the most crickets for their grade level!
Good luck to all classes as they earn shields for the second nine weeks!
