Wish You Were Here: Weeki Wachee Springs
The Sci-fi classic "Creature From the Black Lagoon" was filmed entirely at the spring!

"Coverd Wagon" Train
The park used to have a model showing visitors what a Seminole Tribe's village might have looked like. A "covered wagon" train guided tourists through the lush forest where there were plenty of great photo opportunities with the local wildlife!
Early Billboard
Billboards used to have to be hand painted. This is a photo of one of the park's earliest ads.
The Evening Independant
Newton Perry placed this add in the October 11th, 1947 edition of one of St. Petersburg's newspapers.
ABC's Promotion of the Park
This 1961 short film was played in ABC movie theaters all across the country, trying to entice people to travel to Florida and visit Weeki Wachee. With how many outlets for advertizing there are available today, it's difficult to imagine film being one of the few ways to promote anything.
