Use Tech Tools to Keep Them on Their Toes
Sometimes we fall into patterns of calling on certain students or focusing only on one part of the classroom for interaction. When I first started teaching, we used popsicle sticks in a jar to randomly select students for participation, but now there are some excellent online resources to help teachers ensure students stay on their toes during class and to help make sure we are including all students in class discussion. If you would like to incorporate a randomizing student selection tool, there are several available on the CSISD Tech Tools site.
What other tech tools are you using in your classroom? Whether it is for classroom management, student interaction, formative assessment, or just to liven things up, I'd love to hear how you are integrating technology into your classrooms in meaningful ways. If you have a tool you'd be interested in sharing either in the bulletin or in a faculty meeting, please let me know.
Have an excellent week!

Attention Advocate Teachers
Transcripts will be in your boxes Monday morning for all students (9 -12) graders. If you no longer have a student in your 4th period that you have a transcript for - please bring that to the office immediately - so that student can receive their copy. These are confidential.
Please send a student or pick up your registration materials to give to 9 - 11 graders in the counseling office before advocate.
You will receive:
1. Green course description guide
2. CARDSTOCK Course Request/4 year plan
BLUE for 11th graders
BUFF for 9 - 10 graders
3. Course Cheat Sheet
4. Course Planning Sheet
If you need additional copies of any materials, send a student to Ms. Popp in the counseling office to pick up what you need.
Each student should receive one of each of the 4 listed above. Please make sure that the students receive the correct color: Juniors - blue and the Fresh/Soph - buff. The 11th graders are on a different graduation plan than the 9th and 10th graders.
Core classes and foreign language will have stickers to place on the students' request forms. Make sure that your students know which courses need your signatures - especially CATE/Athletics/Fine Arts.
Completed course requests and 4 year plans (CARDSTOCK) are due to the student's social studies teacher by Friday, January 15. Counselors will be in the cafeteria each day next week Monday - Thursday to answer questions about the plans. They should not sign up to see us regarding registration, but see us at lunch or before or after school.
If a student does not have a social studies teacher, then their course request and four year plan sheet are to be turned in to the counselor's office by Friday, January 15.
