First Grade Events
*Red Ribbon Week is November 17-21. Here is a list of what your child will be doing each day of the week:
Monday-Wear a red hat to school.
Tuesday-Add their hand print to a banner at school.
Wednesday-Wear a backwards red shirt.
Thursday-A police officer will be speaking at a seminar at 8:00.
Friday-Wear red socks.
What's Going On In Ms. Roberts Class
Reading: Our story of the week is Land of Ice. The students will focus on comparing and contrasting information in nonfiction text. The spelling focus is words with or and ore.
ELA: We have finished up our grammar unit and have moved on to Informational Writing. The class will be writing about Penguins. They will research information about penguins and come up with a list of facts and information.
Math: We will finish Unit 6 this week! Our test will be on Wednesday. We will move on to Unit 7.

10/8: Unit 6 Math Test
10/14: International Night (begins at 6:00 pm)
10/17: Social Studies Project Due
10/18: Market Day
10/20: Happy Birthday Pardhu
10/21: Dress Down Day! Wear your favorite jersey to school!
Ms. Tice's Class
Reading- Students will be practicing words with /or/ and /ore/, reading comprehension, and fluency.
Writing- Students will be working on an informational writing about penguins.
Math- Students will be practicing number lines, tally marks, addition and subtraction, number bonds, and pictographs.
Social Studies- Students will be learning about needs and wants, goods and services, and saving and spending.
Important Dates:
Wednesday, Nov. 12-Unit 6 Math Test.
Friday, Nov. 14-Reading and spelling tests.
Friday, Nov. 14-International Night at 6pm. Our class is Argentina!
Monday, Nov. 17-Social Studies projects due.
Tuesday, Nov. 18-Market Day!
