Our Lady of Mercy
NEWSLETTER | TERM 4 | WEEK 8 | 30 NOVEMBER 2022
Year 1
This year we have celebrated our uniqueness by learning, playing and growing. We came together as a team to showcase our talents in our Year 1 Assembly, The Garden. We are very proud of our hard work and achievements this year. When we work together collaboratively, we can accomplish anything!
Dear God,
Throughout this first week of Advent,
help us remember that we are your people and that you are our God.
Help us get our priorities right and put the most important things first:
loving God and loving our neighbour.
Holy Spirit, guide the choices we make throughout this week so that we choose to do what honours our God and what shows our love of others.
Father in heaven, we offer thanks to you for the many gifts and talents you have given to all the people on earth, to our family and friends.
Lord Jesus, we wait in joyful hope for you. Come into our hearts so that when the time comes we will be prepared to join you in everlasting joy.
Message from the Principal
Dear Parents and Carers
Thank you to those who attended our Annual Community Meeting for our Advisory Council and our P&F on Monday evening. A copy of my report will be sent out via a seperate communication. Another very big thank you to our P&F for putting on an outstanding friend-raising event in the 'Outdoor Movie' on the oval night. The tireless work of a handful of parents provides the whole community with these wonderful opportunities and these parents need to be thanked and congratulated for their selfless service to our school.
The next 7 days of school will be busy ones, with lots of exciting events to look forward to, for both students and families. On Friday evening, we have our Christmas Carol's concert, a highlight of the school year. Bring a picnic and come and enjoy a wonderful evening on our oval.
Next week the students will engage in our 'move-up' morning where they will spend some time in their new classroom, meet their new teacher and see who will be in their class for 2023.
We also farewell our Year 6 students at their graduation assembly and we appropriately conclude the year with a Thanksgiving Mass on the last day of school to which all families are invited and when our Year 6 leaders for 2023 will be announced.
At this time of the year we can all get a little stressed, with the busyness of life as we wind up the school year and as the festive season gets under way. On Sunday, we celebrated the first Sunday of Advent, during which time the first candle in the advent wreath was lit. This candle which is purple symbolises hope. It represents our anticipation for the coming of the Messiah. The hope that God gives us through the birth of Jesus, is that with His grace we can be redeemed and the world renewed. Let us take time to think about this beautiful gift of hope and to really focus on the important things in life, like showing love and care to those in need around us, rather than what has to be prepared for the next event on the calendar.
God Bless you all.
