A Message From Dr. Hinson
Hopefully you are enjoying the long weekend and beautiful weather! Tomorrow is a school holiday as we honor the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. We encourage everyone to find some way to serve our community as a way to celebrate the day. We welcome many virtual students back to campus. We know that the decision was difficult and perhaps you feel anxious. Please know we are here to help. Feel free to reach out with questions or concerns.
We also ask that everyone remember to continue to follow the COVID screening protocols. Students who are running a fever or have symptoms related to COVID 19 should stay home. Parents please complete the screener and wait for contact from the nurse. Additionally, if someone tests positive for COVID 19 in the home or is symptomatic and awaiting results, please fill out the screener and keep the student at home until contacted.
Remember, if your child is quarantined they should remain at home. This means any Prosper ISD campus is off limits. For example, if someone is positive at home or the student was deemed a close contact they will not come to campus nor will they attend sports practice on campus.
Thanks for helping us keep everyone safe!
Love ya; Mean It,
Dr. Hinson
We Honor MLK Jr.
Inauguration
The inauguration of a United States President is a historically significant time for our country. This year the inauguration will take place on January 20, 2021. We wanted to make you aware that we will be viewing the inauguration in courses where the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (curriculum) requires instruction specific to current events on this topic, just as Prosper did during the last presidential inauguration in 2017. At Stuber, classrooms will not watch the inauguration live but may view a recording of a portion the next day as relevant to TEKS within US History/Social Studies. Conversations will stay neutral and focus on the traditions surrounding this ceremony.
If you have questions or concerns, please reach out.
Arrival & Dismissal
Please remember that school STARTS at 7:45. Students should be in their classrooms ready to learn at 7:45. Any student arriving after the 7:45 bell is considered tardy. Virtual students follow the same rules. Please make sure your child is ready by being dressed appropriately, in an acceptable learning area, and computer ready to go for their morning meeting!
For arrival, you may use either the front carline or back carline. Please know that all students know how to get to their classrooms from either door. The front carline backs up fairly quickly, so if you see that please use the back carline. Additionally, students should exit the vehicle when in the unloading zone marked by cones. Please do not wait for a staff member to open the door. We attempt a contactless arrival as much as possible. Please stay in your vehicle when unloading. If assistance is needed, please lower your window and alert a staff member. We are always happy to help!
For dismissal, you should enter the appropriate carline (A-L front line; M-Z back line). Please display your car placard in your window. A staff member will enter the number assigned to you which displays in your child's classroom. Our dismissal flows as follows: bus & daycare vans dismissed first, then walkers, then car riders. Any changes in dismissal create stress. Please know that all dismissal changes must be received by the office by 2:15. We ask that you avoid dismissal changes as much as possible as we are ensuring that every student gets safely home.

What if my kid is quarantined?
As guidelines in the world around us continue to be everchanging, I thought you might wonder where Prosper policy lies. Please be aware of the following guidelines for health and instruction.
HEALTH
Please refer to the Prosper ISD COVID 19 webpage @ https://www.prosper-isd.net/domain/5229
INSTRUCTION
Within 24 hours during the school week, a letter will be sent to you with information about obtaining a Chromebook, accessing instruction, daily schedule, resources needed, as well as teacher contact information. Please give us time to get this information to you, but please reach out to your homeroom teacher if you haven't received any communication after 24 hours of notifying the school.
Late Work Policy
Furthermore the following guideline applies to work turned in after the due date:
All students are automatically given an additional day to turn in assignments without penalty. After the additional time**, students can earn a 75 if the assignment is completed within 10 school days of the original due date. After the 10 school days, submitted work will earn a 50. Assignments never submitted are assigned a zero and a Stuber referral is written to alert administration. Documentation of parent communication is noted in the referral.
Administration will work with the student, parent, and teacher to get the work completed.
We understand that parent communication is essential. Therefore, an email is sent when the assignment is three days late. A subsequent email and/or phone call is made at the 5 day, 7 day, and 10 day mark as necessary. Teachers may choose to allow a student to have first had a Friday fun day time to make up the assignment prior to reaching out.
**Students with accommodation of additional time will be given in accordance with IEP/504.

Inclement Weather Procedures
Inclement Weather Procedures
When inclement weather is a possibility, Prosper ISD district officials continually monitor weather conditions during the overnight and early morning hours. The district takes several factors into consideration before making a decision to cancel school, delay school, or dismiss school early due to inclement weather. These primary factors include:
- The health, safety, and welfare of students and staff; and the safe transport of students and staff to school.
- Teenage drivers on the roads and their safety
Cancellations, Delays, and Early Releases – How Decisions are Made
When inclement weather threatens normal school operations, the following steps are taken:
- District officials evaluate the roadways and travel conditions across the district.
- The Superintendent consults with Prosper ISD transportation staff and district safety and security personnel.
- After taking into account all the information that is received from external and internal sources, the Superintendent will make a decision as early as possible whether to delay or cancel school.
The Communication Process – What Happens Next
When a decision is made to cancel school, delay school, or dismiss school early, the district will notify parents using Blackboard Connected through email, phone, and text notification alerts and the Prosper ISD website will be updated as quickly as possible.
Information about school closures, delays, or early dismissal will also be communicated through the following media, including but not limited to:
- Prosper ISD Twitter: @ProsperISD
- Prosper ISD Facebook
- Prosper Instagram: @prosper_isd
- Local television stations
- Local radio stations
Because of the uncertainty of weather conditions, we ask that parents and staff monitor local media, the Prosper ISD website, and email before heading to school or sending children to the bus stop. An important rule of thumb to note is, if there is no announcement from Prosper ISD, then classes will be held on a normal schedule.
