Morning Procedures:
*Start and End times for this year will be 7:45 a.m.- 3:05 p.m. Our first bell rings at 7:40.
We will open our doors at 7:00 a.m. for any parent needing an earlier drop off.
*Parents and Students please watch the attached video links in blue, for the new drop off and pick up procedures at MHS, along with a map of the directions. **NOTE: (There are two different videos, one for student drop off, and one for student drivers) Freshman students will need to be dropped off in front of MHS, and enter in at the Lucy Smith Center. Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors will come in the main building, and go in the main cafeteria.
A grab and go breakfast will be provided in each area for any student wanting breakfast.
If you are a band student (this semester during marching season only) breakfast will be served at the Fine Arts Building at 8:25 a.m.
Student Drop Off:
Student Drivers:
Daytime Procedures:
* All students must remain on campus between start and end times. Parents that need to check their student out of school must come in the main office. Make sure to have a driver's license in hand, and complete the proper check out, by using our kiosk system. This is for the safety and security of all.
*Students are not allowed to leave campus for lunch unless parents personally come into the office and sign out the student using the kiosk, and upon return to campus sign in using the kiosk (no phone calls).
*Students that are attending college concurrent classes, KTC etc. may leave during those times if we have the proper documentation from EOSC, or KTC for each semester. Students that do this must stay in those classes for the whole semester, or will be required back on MHS campus if dropped. Student drivers that are in 8th hour athletics, may leave campus after 7th hour, to drive to their designated location for sports. Buses will provide transportation for any other student that needs a way to get to those locations.
* This year at MHS, we ask that students bring clear water bottles only. No other food or drinks will be allowed during class time and in the hallways. We will allow clear water bottles with water though, so students can stay hydrated. We have water bottle refilling stations located throughout the school for the students' convenience. (No outside food or drinks)
*Please look over the new 2022-2023 McAlester Public Schools parent/student handbook (link below in blue). New policies are in place. Such as, cell phones, dress code, attendance etc.
Handbook:
McAlester 2022-2023 Parent/Student Handbook
Tutoring:

English: Mrs. Collier's Classroom #270
Math - Mrs. Renard's Classroom #253
After School (Mon. - Thurs.) 7:00 - 7:45 p.m.
English - Mrs. Collier's Classroom #270
Math - Mrs. Renard's Classroom #253
Attendance Matters:
Research proves that attendance is vital and plays a pivotal role in the academic success of students.
*For students that are chronically absent, our CAT TEAM (Chronic Absentee Team) will be making visits to homes of students with 7 or more absences. It is state law that students are to miss no more than 9 days a semester, absences exceeding this number are reflective on the school's State Report Card, and will be referred to the District Attorney. It will also result in a no credit for the class.
Research shows there is a direct correlation between student's attendance and academic achievement in school.
We thank you in advance for helping us ensure your child's academic success.
If you have any questions please call our McAlester High School office at 918-423-4776.
