Principal Message
We have completed another incredible week at Baker Elementary! I am amazed by our students every day. We have started giving out our Green Tickets this week. For those of you who are new, Baker Elementary has implemented a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) System within the school. This means that we are praising kids for specific things they are doing and reframing how we talk to students when it comes to rules and discipline. For example, instead of saying, "No running in the halls," we will say, "At Baker, we walk in the hallways." Kids (and people) respond much better to positive reinforcement. A handful of staff members each week will give a Green Ticket to a student that they deem is practicing one of our Baker's BEST (Be respectful, Effort, Self-Control, Trustworthy) Guidelines. The Green Ticket will be showcased on our Principal's 200 board. All of this helps build confidence in students as well as a positive classroom and school culture. Positivity breeds creativity and innovation, which are the building blocks of learning.
Friday, September 4th is Assessment Day. Your child's teacher will let you know if your child needs to come up during that day or if the assessment can be completed in school/home. There is no school on this day. Also, Monday, September 7th is Labor Day. There will be no school on this day either.
Our goal at Baker is to keep you as informed as possible. If we ever fall short of that, don't hesitate to reach out.
Sincerely,
Ashley Gannon

COVID-19 Screener
If your child is learning in person, please make sure to go through the Screener questions each day. Here is the link to the Screener. If your child tests positive, has been exposed to a COVID positive individual, or has one or more of the symptoms on the screening questionnaire, use the link at the bottom of the questionnaire to notify the school nurse and do NOT send your child to school until receiving clearance to return from the school nurse.
*If your child has a chronic condition that presents as one of the symptoms on the screening questionnaire, it is recommended that you contact the school nurse and your child's teacher about the chronic symptom so that both of these key school personnel are aware.
