Principal's Message
Dear Parent(s),
In 2003, the provincial and territorial ministers of education, through the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada (CMEC), agreed to develop the Pan-Canadian Assessment Program (PCAP). This program assesses, at regular intervals, the knowledge and skills of Grade 8 students across Canada in the core subjects of science, reading, and mathematics. In each PCAP assessment, one of the three subjects is the primary domain, while the other two are minor domains. Our 8F & 8B classes have been selected to write this exam, it should take the morning of Monday 25th (approximately 90mins). The exam will not be used for any assessment purposes by the school and only used as information for the Council of Ministers of Education. (Parent Brochure attached)
We are very excited to be starting a 9 player Bantam football team for the 2022-23 school. Our team will consist of grade 7,8 & 9 with the potential of a few grade 6's. Panther Football will be the Jr. component to the Parkland Pacers with coaching staff being a collaborative group with Head Coach Mr. J. Aldred from Parkland. Below are the posters for Flag Football, Panther 9 player Football and Pacer 12 player Football.

Edson Estimation - Homelessness
Dear Parents/Guardians, Reflections Empowering People to Succeed and the Edson Homelessness TaskForce are reaching out to ask you to kindly fill out this survey between March 28th and April 26th:
Homelessness is often hidden in rural communities, and rarely look like they do in urban centers. Individuals experiencing housing insecurity in rural and remote communities are more likely to couch surf, live in overcrowded housing, or own/rent housing that may need major repairs, often leveraging the relationships around them in for support. Consequently, rural communities are often met with disbelief when attempts are made to address the issue of homelessness within their communities. This skepticism is the reason that the Edson Homelessness TaskForce and Reflections Empowering People to Succeed have contracted the Rural Development Network (RDN) to coordinate a rural homelessness count in our community. This Rural Homelessness Estimations Project is based off of RDN's step-by-step guide to estimating homelessness in rural communities. The guide, published in 2017, uses a population estimation methodology wherein survey data is gathered through local service agencies such as food banks, shelters, libraries, outreach programs, income support services, etc.; that is any agency that provides supports or services to individuals who might be homeless or at-risk of homelessness. RDN initially developed the guide due to the lack of available, accurate, and current data on rural homelessness. This limits the ability of rural communities to advocate for better resources for their residents in greatest need. The project is an opportunity to better understand the needs of residents in Edson by collecting your story through this survey. A better picture of who is in need and what their needs are will contribute to a healthier community; supporting improved decision-making across organizations in Edson and at all levels of government by providing a credible, evidence-based document that can be used and referred to in the community. Data collected from the survey will inform this document and will support improved programming, access to services, access to community funding, and more. “Addressing homelessness through prevention inevitably requires understanding the factors that lead people to become homeless in the first place.” (Stephen Gaetz) Sincerely, Edson Homelessness TaskForce, Reflections, and RDN
