School Board Meeting Summary
Wenatchee School District
March 24, 2020 Regular Meeting
The Wenatchee School Board provides a "Board Meeting Summary Briefing" after each Board meeting. The summary includes a short description of the main topics and action items. These summaries are not meant to replace minutes. The minutes for each meeting are approved and posted after the next regularly scheduled meeting. We hope these summaries provide some basic information and context around the reports, presentations, and action items.

BOARD COMMUNICATION Watch
Ms. Iniguez wanted to recognize our food service staff. They are doing a great service to our community. She acknowledged that teachers are checking-in with kids and that they continue to put kids first.
Ms. Sandberg commended personnel that are doing emergency and essential work.
Mr. Barron read a formal statement on behalf of the Board expressing gratitude for the work of school staff and community partners as they come together to provide services to children and families during the closure. Mr. Barron’s remarks highlighted Superintendent Gordon’s steady leadership in an uncertain world with the help of over 1,000 District employees working together. He asked parents to continue to be patient and give the District grace as they navigate this time of adversity.
SUPERINTENDENT REPORT Watch
Superintendent Gordon commented that he is humbled and blown away by the compassion that our staff has for our children and that our staff misses the daily interactions with our children. He acknowledged the hard work of District staff to respond to the crisis and is proud of how quickly they responded. Superintendent Gordon pointed out that our face-to-face model of education is not quickly and easily transitioned to an online model but strides are being made to move that direction. Until online learning is available, District staff is working to create equitable learning resources to support at-home learning that can be picked up at schools.
