Counselor's Corner
In honor of World Kindness Day, here's some science-based advice for parents who want to teach their kids to be kind. According to Harvard Psychologist Richard Weissbourd, about 80 percent of the kids in the study he conducted felt that their parents were more concerned about their kids' achievement and happiness than their care for others. Yikes! Here are five strategies to raise kind kids: 1. Make caring for others a priority. 2. Provide opportunities for children to practice caring and gratitude. 3. Expand your child's circle of concern. 4. Be a strong moral role model and mentor. 5. Guide children in managing upset feelings. For more tips, check out randomactsofkindness.org.
