Safety First
The safety of our students is our number one priority. Children are the least predictable pedestrians and the most difficult to see. Please help us keep our students safe by following this established set of safety guidelines for parents and visitors to our school.
- Our school opens at 7:15 a.m. Please do not drop students off prior to that time because they will not have adult supervision.
- When using the carpool line, please note that the exit is a right-turn only during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up.
- The speed limit is 20 MPH!
- Please refrain from parking on Carlwood Drive. This poses a safety hazard for our students as bike-riders are often difficult to see.
- We've noticed divers making U-Turns and J-Turns on both Carlwood and Oakview. Please note that this is a traffic violation and very unsafe for our students and families.
- Drivers should not block the crosswalks when stopped. This includes stopping with a portion of your vehicle on the crosswalk.
- Yield the right-of way to pedestrians.
- Be mindful of kids and animals when driving through the residential neighborhood.
We appreciate your help and support.

Tardies
TARDIES
The tardy bell rings at 7:40 a.m. A five-minute warning bell rings at 7:35 a.m. If a student arrives after 7:40 a.m. he/she will be given a tardy pass prior to entering their classroom. Our school doors open at 7:15 a.m. We encourage all students to be settled in their classrooms no later than 7:40 a.m. This really helps start their day off right.
Peach Jar (eFlyers)
Round Rock ISD has launched an e-flyer distribution system, powered by Peachjar, in an effort to streamline communication between parents, schools and community members. The District will also be able to connect parents with youth-oriented activities and programs that support the educational enrichment of students.
Peachjar allows schools to directly connect with parents and provide them with important information. Now you’ll find e-flyers announcing the events and activities happening at your student’s campus, and within the district, posted on your school’s web site; plus you can sign up to have them sent to you by email.
The process and guidelines for distribution aligns with Goal 7 from the Strategic Plan, which states, “We will align and collaborate with existing district organizations to foster new partnerships with businesses and community.”
Visit the Caraway web site and click on the Peachjar logo to see the school’s e-flyers. Or, search for your school on Peachjar.com.

Enrichment at Caraway
Round Rock ISD awarded $1.9 million in Innovative School Grants to 34 District campuses, challenging the winning schools to explore, enrich or design an exemplary model of innovation to serve students and the community. Caraway received $65,000 to go towards funding Caraway Academy, an enrichment opportunity embedded within the school day that takes students on adventures where they are provided learning opportunities for specific, self-selected enrichment. STEAM-based activities that extend beyond the traditional curriculum. In addition to weekly enrichment opportunities, all students at Caraway will have frequent access to our Innovation Lab, which will provide a safe space for students to create, invent, and engage in collaborative learning.
We have plans to launch this great opportunity in October. Please visit the Caraway Academy website to obtain more information and to view the enrichment blog. Here you will find ways that our parents and community can be involved.
A parent information session will be scheduled for later this semester as well. Be on the lookout for more information.
Westwood Homecoming Parade, September 14th
Greetings! This is to inform you that our annual Westwood High School Homecoming Parade is around the corner! We would like to let you know that the parade and pep rally will be held on Wednesday, September 14th.
The parade is scheduled to start promptly at 6 PM. The following streets will begin closing at around 5:45 PM in waves: parts of Lake Creek Parkway, Millwright Parkway, Woodland Village Drive, Hymeadow Drive, and Mellow Meadow Drive. Each street will reopen as the end of the parade passes.
On behalf of Westwood Student Council, I wanted to ask for your assistance in a very important matter. If you could let your students’ parents know that the parking lots located near the Warrior Bowl will be reserved for the parking of floats. Once the floats return to the school to unload students, your students’ parents will be allowed to park in this area. Once the parade leaves the school vicinity, the band practice parking lot and the staff parking lot (both located off of Mellow Meadow Drive), as well as any street parking in front of the school on Mellow Meadow, will be available after the parade floats exit.
We appreciate your understanding, as well as any help you can provide, and thank you for your continued support!
