Attendance Reminder from Attendance Clerk
Parents,
If your students is absent please return a note to the front office within 3 days of student returning, otherwise it becomes an unexcused absence.
We cannot take emails as absence notes if it doesn’t have a parent signature. You can have a doctor/ dentist email or fax me a note.
Please make sure when writing an absence note to have student’s first and last name, date of absence, reason and parent signature.

Parent Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Engagement Series
Please join us and learn more about social emotional learning in Plano ISD. We will discuss strategies that can be implemented at home to support the SEL competencies and skills. Our first series, "Self-Awareness," will take place on Thursday, September 20th at Shepard Elementary from 6:00-7:30.

Spring PACE Testing
Is your student interested in participating in PACE next year? Testing for consideration to be admitted into the Plano Academic and Creative Education (PACE) program for next school year will take place next spring. Referral packets can be submitted online or on paper by Friday, Jan. 16 to Ms. McAnderson in E105. If you have any questions about the process please contact her at melissa.mcanderson@pisd.edu. The online version will automatically send an email to Ms. McAnderson when completed.
History Fair- Dates Corrected
The History Fair is a research competition in which students compete by researching a topic of their choice (that fits the theme) and producing some type of presentation. Students can create a documentary, essay, exhibit, website, or skit. The Theme this year is “Triumph and Tragedy in History”. If you are interested in more information about the Murphy History Fair please come to an informational meeting Thursday, 9/13 at 3:35 in room N103 with Mrs. Watkins.
Citizen Bee- Dates Corrected
The Citizen Bee is a new history competition over US history and government. This competition is set up like the Spelling Bee with students competing for prizes. If you would like to learn more about the Citizen Bee competition please come to an informational meeting on Tuesday, 9/11 at 3:35 with Mrs. Watkins.

The first meeting will be this Friday, Sept. 7th from 3:30-4:30 in Mrs. Pilgrim’s room E113. All students are welcome to attend. Make sure to dress for working outside and you have transportation home. We need newspapers for our landscaping project. Drop them off in the front office or in room E113. Thanks!
