Kindergarten Kingdom News...

Mrs. Johnson's and Mrs. Lawlor's Kindergarten Class

We are learning...

Reading and Language Arts: We read the book Hey, Little Ant by Phillip and Hannah Hoose. We discussed what the kid in the story should do~squish the ant, or NOT squish the ant. Some of us had very strong opinions! Ask your student about his/her opinion!

We worked on manipulating sounds in words. Ask you student to make new words by changing the beginning, middle, or ending sounds. Below are links for a songs about letter sounds and phonemic awareness.

Science/Social Studies: We learned about the groundhog early in the week. Thank goodness the groundhog saw his shadow! We are now looking for an early spring! We also talked about taking care of our teeth. Students were excited to learn about the different ways we can keep those bad cavities away! We also enjoyed a visit from The Tooth Fairy- complete with a magic show!

Things to remember...

  • If you would like your student to participate in our Valentine's Day card exchange, please send in 19 signed Valentine cards. We have 10 girls and 9 boys in our class. Also remember to send in a decorated box/bag for your student to collect his/her Valentine cards in by Friday, February 12th. We will celebrate with a card exchange and a special snack on Friday, February 12th.
  • Students need to remember to read their library books before returning them to school to take an AR test. It takes an extra long time to do AR tests now that all students are checking out 2 books. Thanks for your support with this!
  • We have snack time every day around 9:00 am. Please remember to send in a healthy snack with your student daily!
  • Our Kindergarten Program~ A Salute to America~ will be in the Kedron cafeteria on Thursday, February 25th @ 9:00am. Please save the date!
