A Word From Mrs. Loor
Dear Franklin Families,
This past week was full of activity! Our 5th grade winter concert was amazing. The students worked so hard and it showed. I was so proud of how far they have come. The Holiday Shop was a great success yet again due to the careful planning by the PTO. Thank you for this wonderful event. I hope you all enjoy the gifts your children have carefully selected. Many of our classes get together for fun, holiday activities throughout the month as well. It is always such a joy to see the students' smiling faces.
The first marking period has ended and report cards will be available on Genesis on Friday, December 16th at 3 pm. The indicators reflected on the report card point towards an end of the year mastery. Therefore, you may see many "PS" or Progressing Towards Standards ratings since the students will not have received all the instruction necessary to meet the standard at this point in the year. A "PS" or "IS" does not equate to a letter grade in a traditional report card. Our standards-based report card shows you what skills the students will have attained by June. If you have further questions regarding the report card, please reach out to your child's teacher.
I absolutely love this fun and festive time of year! Please see the flyer below for our Holiday Spirit Week starting on Monday, December 19th.
Have an awesome week!
With Warmest Regards,
Mrs. Loor

ILLNESS GUIDELINES
Please keep your child home if he/she is sick.
See below for COVID testing recommendations and follow the NJ Department of Health's Standard School Exclusion Guidelines for all other illnesses.
If your child tests positive for COVID-19, immediately contact your child's school secretary or school nurse. Please click on the "Reporting" tab and receive additional information related to your child's diagnosis.
During medium and high (yellow and orange) community levels, the NJ Department of Health recommends COVID testing when symptomatic (Union County is currently yellow). It is recommended that students who who have two or more symptoms from category A, or at least one symptom from category B, test for COVID.
A: At least two of the following symptoms: fever (measure or subjective), chills, rigors (shivers), myalgia (muscle aches), headache, sore throat, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, congestion or runny nose;
OR
B: At least one of the following symptoms: cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, new loss of smell, or new loss of taste.
COVID QUARANTINE AND ISOLATION GUIDELINES
All COVID positive students must complete a 5 isolation (with day 0 being the date of the positive test or the date of first symptoms) in order to return to school, regardless of vaccination status. Students returning to school on day 6 will be required to wear a mask at school on days 6-10 (Unless they present a negative COVID test on days 6 and 8). Please contact your school nurse to confirm all return dates. Virtual instruction is no longer available during COVID isolation.
