January Staff Member of the Month

Thank you to all who nominated a staff member this month! We had about 200 entries to help celebrate our amazing staff at the Greene School. Our winner, Mr. McLean, was nominated by two different students. They said Mr. McLean, "helps you with anything you need. He also pushes us to be the best we could and I think that makes him an amazing teacher." In the classroom he helps students learn because he, "understands levels of interest on different topics and makes everyone excited about what we are doing. He understands where everyone is in understanding on topics so I very rarely re-learn stuff in his class."

Order Your Yearbook Today!

Yesterday you received a yearbook order form in the green folder. Orders will be done completely online and the order deadline date is Friday, February 24th. Go to School ID code: 1592717. Yearbooks are $17 this year.

Haddix Book Signing

If you have a Margaret Peterson Haddix book that you would like autographed by the author this Thursday, please bring it to the school media center this Monday or Tuesday.

Also, the media center still has a few paperback Haddix books for sale if you'd like to purchase one (or more). Please bring cash or a check as payment. The following are the titles available and their prices:

There were also questions about Fall Sports at the JH. Here are the sports for students next year:

Boy's and Girl's Soccer- Tryouts begin Tuesday Aug. 1st

Girl's Volleyball- Open Gyms July 25th, 27th, 31st. Tryouts begin Tuesday Aug. 1st

7th and 8th Grade Football- Monday July 31st

Cross Country- Tuesday Aug. 1st

Boy's and Girl's Golf- Tryouts begin Tuesday Aug. 1st

Girl's Tennis- Tryouts begin Tuesday Aug. 1st

Cheer- Tryouts will take place in May. Practice starts Tuesday Aug. 1st


Past students and parents of Mrs. Sarah Sheblessy (second grade teacher at Blue Ash Elementary), can you believe Mrs. Sheblessy will be retiring at the end of this school year?

We would love your help in giving her a final present of writing a thank you note for being a wonderful teacher and mentor. We are also requesting photo submissions of you with Mrs. Sheblessy during your teaching/learning experience with her.

Please turn in your notes and/or pictures in one of the following ways. A) Turn in to the main office at your school by Friday, March 10th. B) Email your letter and/or digital or scanned picture to Michelle Shade (email below) by Friday, March 10th. This will give us enough time to assemble a nice book for Mrs. Sheblessy. Remember, this is a SURPRISE!

Nurse's Corner: Staying Healthy!

This is the season for runny noses, coughs and sore throats. Please remember that if your child has an elevated temperature (above 100.4), s/he must be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school.

Also, comfort measures go a long way! Try sending a water bottle with your student to help with fluid intake, pack a honey stick in their lunch for sore throats. If you feel that s/he needs more than this, such as an over the counter pain reliever or cough drops, please bring the medication with a medication administration order signed by the parent and a doctor.

Sycamore High School Cabaret

Join us at Cabaret on Saturday, February 11th at 7 pm as The Hub at Sycamore High School is transformed into a jazz club serving drinks and gourmet desserts.

Hear the voices of choral students like you’ve never heard them before! Performers sing as soloists and in small ensembles accompanied by piano or guitar. You will enjoy original compositions, jazz tunes, folk music and musical theater songs.

Tickets are $10 and are on-sale starting February 1st on and will be sold at HS lunches (11:40 am - 12:40 pm) in the Commons on Friday, February 10th and at the door.

Doors open at 6:30 pm. Come early for dessert!
