Kingdom Plantae

Things to Do:

  1. Observe the different types of plants on display, including the slide of green algae. How are they similar? How are they different?
  2. Complete the identification of flower parts and their function (Flower and Reproduction handout)
  3. Measure the rate of water movement through the celery stalk. (Observing Water Movement Handout)
  4. Watch the videos.

Things to Think About:

  1. Can any plants move on their own to a new location (are motile)?
  2. What stimuli cause some plants to move?
  3. Do Venus Fly Traps need the sun for energy?
  4. Are the plants one celled? Many cells? Either?
  5. Is the green algae a colony of one celled organisms or a multicellular organism?
  6. Where do plants get their energy?
  7. How do plants reproduce?
  8. What type of adaptations do they need for survival? Protection from Predators?
