CAHS Staff Meeting

Our required HS staff meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 24th from 2:30 - 3:30 in the cafeteria. Topics will be Teachscape and Teacher Evaluations, MME Reports and MME/ACT Improvement, Advisory/Interventions and PLC Plans.

Teacher IDP's (individual Development Plans) and Professional Growth Goals

Reminder that IDP's -or- Professional Growth Goals are due for review to your administrative evaluator (electronically) by September 24th. Administrators will then schedule meetings to review the goals.

Final document will be uploaded to Teachscape by September 30th. We plan to review how to setup your account and upload the document in Teachscape at the staff meeting.

Remember that IDP's are for new teachers and Professional Growth Goals are for tenured teachers with effective or highly effective ratings. If you have questions, please let us know.

Student Handbook Review

***Administrators visited English classes last week and reviewed serious infractions such as drugs, weapons, fighting, etc.***

I realize that email was down early on, and that we covered the handbook during classes, however, my experience was that some students had not yet seen the handbook review in their 2nd/3rd/4th hour classes as requested (see below). This is a professional obligation and correlates to domain 4 of the Teacher Evaluation instrument, so if you haven't completed the review, it should be taken care of right away. THANKS to all who already completed the assigned review!

Handbook Highlights: Attached please find the Handbook Highlights for 2014-2015 PowerPoint (also posted on Blackboard under Carman-Ainsworth High School --> Publications --> Student Handbook Highlights 2014-2015).

From the email on 9.1.14:

Review these slides with students in class during the first week of school:

    • 2nd hour - Wednesday 9/3 - slides 1-16 (Intro/Weapons/State Law/Cigarettes and Tobacco/Alcohol and Drugs) **most of these slides were covered by admin.
    • 3rd hour - Thursday 9/4 - slides 17-33 (Fights/Assaults/Bullying/Academic Integrity/Student Dress/Student ID)
    • 4th hour - Friday 9/5 - slides 34 - 54 (Cell Phones/Attendance/Concussion/Closed Campus/Fundraisers/Credit Status/Lockers/Cafeteria/Principals and Counselors)

ABLE and Dr. Recco Richardson

We have a new program, ABLE (Adolescents for Better Learning Endeavors), in place this year for at-risk students. Dr. Recco Richardson and his staff, along with our own Behavior Interventionists (Claire, Chane and Nate), will be visiting students in classes or as pull-outs to monitor attendance, academic success and grades, as well as offering some after-school counseling interventions. Please allow them access to the students on their caseload as well as provide them information as requested.

Student and Staff ID's

Picture Day was held last week. We expect Student and Staff ID's to be available later this week or next. When ID's are distributed, Staff and Students should wear the ID's during the school day.

Retake day is Thursday, October 16th.
