CHS CAMPUS BUZZ
Parent/Student Edition ~ Issue 15 ~ Nov. 14-18, 2022
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
It is with deep sadness that I share with you about the tragic passing of one of our students, Peyton Barringer. After meeting with the family on Friday afternoon, we wanted to take a moment to remember Peyton who was a 12th grader at Calhoun High School and had been in the CCS family since Kindergarten. Please pray for Peyton’s family and friends, as they will need our support in the coming days. Counselors and social workers are available in the main office for any student in need.

AMERICAN EDUCATION WEEK
American Education Week, first celebrated in 1921, is an opportunity to celebrate public education and to honor individuals who are making a difference in ensuring that every child receives a quality education. American Education Week is always celebrated the week before Thanksgiving and is a reminder to us all to be thankful for the hard work and dedication of those who choose to teach and inspire the next generation of learners.
CCS is proud to celebrate our teachers this week with special treats. I want to encourage our students to thank a teacher this week. It can be a current or former teacher who has had an impact on your life. You can send an email, drop off a special treat, or drop off a handwritten affirmation to our main office teacher affirmation station. Let's show our staff members how much they are loved! ❤️

SHOP WITH A STINGER EVENT
It is time for the 4th Annual Shop With A Stinger event! Shop With A Stinger is an event where high school students get to take a younger student (from the complex) to Walmart and shop for the child and their family for Christmas. High school students can choose a group of 4 or will be placed in a group. Each group will receive a folder containing the child's name and wishlist. We ask that each group donates $100 for their child, so $25 per group member. Please note that we cannot sponsor your $25, so please only sign up if you know you can contribute the $25 fee. Once everyone has shopped for their assigned child, each group will come back to the school and have a pizza and wrapping party!
