DEC. CHARACTER TRAIT: EMPATHY
During the month of December , we are focusing on the character trait of Empathy, helping our Sand Creek Stars to understand and connect to the feelings of others.
WINTER BREAK STARTS FRIDAY 12/23
Next week is just a 4-day week and then winter break is here! There is no school from 12/23/22 through 01/02/23. School will resume again on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2023. We wish all our Sand Creek families an enjoyable break with plenty of time for family and friends. The Sand Creek staff are grateful for your partnership.
ANYONE UP FOR SLEDDING?
Sand Creek now has a full class set of sleds that are available to use on the sledding hill. It is a separate activity from recess. Teachers reserve the hill and the set of sleds ahead of time, in order to plan a safe & fun outdoor experience as a classroom community. We are looking forward to all the winter fun to be had with such a convenient sledding hill in our backyard - the Stars from 2LT pictured here went sledding this morning!
RETURN OVERDUE LIBRARY BOOKS
Mrs. Bailey reminds us that all overdue library books need to be returned before winter break. Please take a moment this weekend to look for any that might be still out. Thank you for your help in this matter.
GR. 5 BUTTERBRAID PICK UP 12/20
The fifth grade fundraiser selling Butterbraids wrapped up recently. The Butterbraids will be delivered to our school on Tuesday, December 20th and need to be picked up on that day. Look for more information from your fifth grade teachers directly.
HOT COCOA READING CHALLENGE
Once again, students will be encouraged to read over winter break. Look for the Winter Break Reading challenge coming home in backpacks next week. Each grade level will identify the number of minutes required, and for all students who complete the challenge - they will be invited to a hot cocoa party in the cafeteria with Mr. Anderson, Mrs. Thomason and our literacy team. Read, read, read - it will definitely pay off in more ways than one!
FUNDRAISER INCENTIVE WINNERS
Fifth grader, Max Mazurek, earned a ride to school in a police car, while Xavier Overacker-Shaffer from fourth grade, won a ride to school in a firetruck. Their names were picked from all of the participants in this year's fundraiser - along with 12 Stars who won the use of the principal's chair for a day. Oh what fun, and what an entrance for these two!
Thank you to the CRPD!

PLEASE LABEL OUTER WEAR
We have relocated our Lost & Found to just outside our main office, inside Door #1. One helpful way of keeping everyone's clothes from getting lost or misplaced is by labelling everything with your students name and class. Our Stars are taught to be responsible for keeping track of their own items, but sometimes mistakes happen. If items are marked clearly it is much easier to match them up with their owner. The majority of the items in our Lost & Found are unmarked! Thank you.
Sweatshirts, jackets, and snowpants - oh my!
Hats, gloves, mittens, boots, and a lot more!
A PLEA FOR PANTS, PLEASE!
The health office is in need of pants again, sizes 6 through 12 are needed. It has been so helpful to have the past donations on hand when an unexpected change of clothes are needed. Thank you!
