The "Missing Link" for Literacy
Phonemic Awareness: The Skills That Help Students Succeed!
Professional Growth Opportunity on Wednesday, August 21, 2019
On Wednesday, August 21, the PreSchool - Grade 1 teachers from Humboldt and Algona Schools are being offered the opportunity to receive professional supports with a company trainer around the Heggerty's Phonemic Awareness resources. They are sharing this opportunity for you, also, to learn about the 35 daily lessons around explicit Phonemic Awareness. These lessons require very little preparation and can be delivered to your students in 10-12 minutes each day. Check out the agenda here. (shorturl.at/efoBV) We hope you will be able to attend!
Phonemic Awareness Workshop
Wednesday, August 21, 2019 (Attend Either Session)
8:00-11:00 @ Taft Elementary, 612 2nd Ave. North, Humboldt, Iowa

Heggerty's Phonemic Awareness Lessons
Developed on a systematic scope and sequence of skills, each level focuses on the Eight Phonemic Awareness Skills, along with two additional activities to develop Letter and Sound Recognition and Language Awareness. The lessons are designed to deliver Tier 1 phonemic awareness instruction in a whole group setting and only take 10-12 minutes each day. For students in need of extra support, portions of the lesson could be used in a small group and serve as a “second dose” of phonemic awareness instruction.
