From our Nurse

Fever reducing medication will bring down your child’s fever, but they may still be contagious. HSE policy states that a student must be fever free without fever reducing medication for 24 hours before returning to school. If your child has a fever, please do not medicate them and send them to school.

From the Computer Lab

Due to encouragement from many students’ parents in learning to type with both hands, I have seen a vast improvement and I want to thank you. I have so many students who started with one or two words a minute and now have at least 10 words a minute. This excites me. I also have a few that are typing in the 30-40 WPM range.

There will be links to different programs for the students to continue practicing from home. We are doing this because many students have asked where they can go to practice. The links will be on the CRES links page.

The students went from three pages of names of students who typed over 10 WPM to almost twelve pages with numbers ranging from 10 WPM to 45 WPM. The names are put on the board for all to see.

I am proud and glad to have each and every one of your children in my class. Thank you for donating several ear buds to the computer lab. They are greatly appreciated. I have enjoyed working with each student this semester while Mrs. Anderson was on maternity leave.

Cathleen Simon IA

Thank you.

Residents of All Ages Encouraged to Explore a New Interest during National Hobby Month

Stop by and find out if glass fusing could be a fun hobby for you and the children in your life

January is National Hobby Month, which means it’s a great time to try something new! Fishers Parks & Recreation offers anyone ages 8 and up the opportunity to explore their creativity during DIY Wind Chimes. Adults, you’re welcome to join in on the program, too. You don’t need any prior experience, just bring your imagination to Roy G. Holland Memorial Park on Saturday, Jan. 10 from 1 until 2:30 p.m., and the entire class will be devoted to glass fusing while having fun. Parents, we know you may be hesitant to let your child craft with glass, but Creative Escape staff members will be there every step of the way to guide their artistic exploration!

This program exposes participants to the techniques, supplies and fundamentals needed to successfully fuse glass. Wind chimes will be fused after the program concludes and will be available for pick up at the Fishers Parks & Recreation Office located at 11565 Brooks School Road a week later. Registration is required, and this program costs $26 for residents and $39 for nonresidents.

Fishers Parks & Recreation strives to host a variety of programs that expose children to new things without locking you into timely and expensive commitments. Join us for the unique program and check out the online Fun Guide for similar programs to participate in.

Registration is due by Jan. 3, so secure your spot online, today!
