Introducing....
Hello Students and Families of Saint Michael School,
I am so excited to be joining the staff at Saint Michael School for the upcoming school year. I’ve had the pleasure to visit the school several times over the past few weeks and I am overwhelmed by the warmth and kindness that I have already received from the students and staff. In my new role in Development and Admissions, I look forward to getting to know each of your families on a personal level, and helping to share with prospective families what makes our school so special.
I have always been passionate about the value of education, and I believe that children are most successful when there exists a strong involvement by their parents and close family. I also think it’s important for children to have opportunities to take what they have learned in the classroom and apply them to real life through hands on learning and community service. I see these things happening at Saint Michael School in such an effortless way already. So, on a personal level, I am eager for my family to become a part of this dynamic community. On a professional level, I feel honored to be the person who gets to share the school’s vision with anyone who is considering investing in a private education for their child, and with the greater community through development opportunities.
My husband and I were married at Blessed Sacrament Church in Greenfield, MA and we continue to be active parishioners there. We have since been blessed with three children who are delighted to be joining the Saint Michael family in August. My educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations, and I have many years of experience in admissions in a small private school setting. I immediately connected with the school’s emphasis on faith, academic excellence, community service, and building up children to be prepared for the greater world around them, not just the next standardized test. I am so excited by all the things currently happening at the school, and the vision for Saint Michael’s future.
We will be busy in the office this summer preparing for the new school year so please be sure to come and introduce yourself to us at some point. I am anxious to speak with you all, to get to know your children, and to hear why you love Saint Michael School!
Sincerely,
Lindsay O’Neil
...and Farewells
I wish you all the best, and a very joyful summer.
Ms. Kim

Summer Reading Challenge
We hope your Summer is happily begun! The Summer Reading Challenge is underway, so do not miss the opportunities to enrich your imagination by taking up a good book. If it is a beautiful sunny day, take a book outside to a pleasant spot; if it is a rainy day, find a cozy corner to begin an adventure.
Already finished reading a book? Let us know by sending an email to Mr. Duchaney at stevenduchaney@smsvt.info. Include your name and the title of the book(s) you have finished. We’ll keep track. Remember, prizes will be awarded to students who read the most books from the Summer Reading Lists. The prizes are listed on the SMS home page at the Summer Reading and Challenge link.
SMS High School Soccer
The high school soccer team began its practices on June 18th and has been meeting regularly three days a week to practice the fundamental soccer skills of dribbling, juggling, passing and shooting. To improve conditioning, the team runs through a series of fitness drills to increase its stamina and agility. Any high school student who is interested in playing soccer and would like to join the practices may do so by emailing Coach Duchaney at stevenduchaney@smsvt.info
Final Bills
For the 2017/2018 School year will be mailed to you the first week in July.
Please do your best to get the final payments in ASAP so we can close out the fiscal year, and start fresh for next year!
Around Town....
Totus Tuus Camp - Sign up time!
Totus Tuus is Latin for "Totally Yours" and the motto of Pope St. John Paul II. It represents our desire to give ourselves entirely to Jesus Christ through the hands of His Immaculate Mother. The summer program endeavors to show youth that a humble and courageous desire to know God must be based upon a steadfast and disciplined life of prayer combined with the reception of the sacraments. We invite children entering 1st through 8th grades to attend our day program from 9-3 on July 16-20 and our high school students to attend the evening program from 7:30-9:30PM from July 15-19. For more information or to register, contact Tina Crocker at 413-896-8576 or email at jtcrocker@crocker.com. Registration forms are also located in the back of the church or at

Catholic Charities Event:
Come Help Us Fill the Gaps
Vermont Catholic Charities is holding a “Vermonters Helping Vermonters” event on June 6th at St. Michael’s College. The event will feature food and beverages from Vermont companies and live music will be provided by the Cassarinos. Proceeds from the event will help Vermont Catholic Charities continue to fill the gaps for the most vulnerable Vermonters. By attending you will help emergency aid clients like John and Sue who are raising their 2 year old grandson. They faced a utility disconnect due to a family illness and raising their grandson. Vermont Catholic Charities helped pay the bill to keep their power on. To learn more about the event and purchase tickets, visit vermontcatholic.org/vermontershelpingvermonters
