A Note from Mrs. Shostachuk 03/13/2022

Dear Central Road Families,

We are excited to head into spring with one more week of teaching and learning before we take pause during spring break. Our annual ritual of early March-changing our clocks to daylight saving time-is coming on Sunday, March 13th. We will enjoy more sunshine in the days ahead! We also thank our students in grades 3-6 for working very hard this past week on their IAR assessments. We anticipate having scores in the summer/next fall.

We hope your weekend is restful and enjoyable with both family and friends.Thank you for taking the time to read our weekly communication. As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions.

Kindest Regards,

Joanna Shostachuk

Those Who Excel Recognition

We are excited to share that 5th grade teacher, Mrs. Fior, was recognized at last week's BOE meeting for being an outstanding teacher and staff member. We are very proud of her recognition and take pride in knowing Mrs. Fior teaches at Central Road School.

Way to go, Mrs. Fior!

Upcoming Comfort Dogs Experience!

Our next special event at Central Road will include Comfort Dogs visiting each classroom from 9:00-11:30 am. March 14th is the day for the dogs-our special friends will visit. Classroom teachers have their individual time scheduled and will share that out in their upcoming communications. We will have 5 comfort dogs coming into school. Comfort dogs will travel to each classroom where students will be able to meet and pet the dogs, and ask any questions they may have about what comfort dogs do for a community! If your child may have a dog allergy or if you have any medical concerns regarding our upcoming visit, please feel free to contact Mrs. Patel or Mrs. Shostachuk so we can make any needed adjustments. The dogs are from the Lutheran Church Charities. Here is the website if you would like any additional information. We are excited for this experience on March 14th!

THANK A CENTRAL ROAD STAFF MEMBER

As we enter the 2nd half of the school year, I invite you to take notice of the things you see your child's teacher do, hear your child's teacher say, or the things you hear your child gush with excitement about related to their teacher. We've included this simple form for you to submit should you feel so inclined to do so. Children in full day school spend more of their waking day with their teacher than they do with their parents. We thank you for entrusting your child with us! This has been a good school year and your kind words mean more than you know!

Thank A Teacher Link

A Note from our Crossing Guard Mrs. Kathy Nordin

Spring is on it’s way, thank goodness! I know we are all anxiously awaiting its arrival. There are however several issues to discuss this month. I know we’re all still getting accustomed to the new school times. Everyone’s cooperation is appreciated to make this work. Recently, I have asked that when waiting to enter the parking lot, you please do not block Brookmeade Drive and also not block any residential driveways. Again, please remember this is a residential neighborhood and people need to get in and out of their driveways and also move into and out of Brookmeade Drive to get where they need to go. Another thing that will be an adjustment is the timing when a left turn out of the lot is permitted. New signage is there now. Until that time, please adhere to the current times still posted. It seems a regular reminder may be in order concerning afternoon pickup. BUSES HAVE PRIORITY. THEY MUST BE ALLOWED INTO THE DRIVEWAY AND PARKING LOT WITHOUT HINDRANCE. I know everyone wants a place inside the lot but, realistically, we all know that is not possible. Thank you, as always, for taking the time.
