Announcements and Reminders:
Lost and Found
Is your child missing jackets or any other items? Please have them check the lost and found; it is FULL of many unclaimed items.
Make-Up Picture Day
If your child missed picture day or you would like for your child to retake their pictures, make up pictures will be October 25. For retakes, please send in the entire purchased package with your child on the make up day; this will serve as payment for their retake.
Veteran’s Day Assembly
Save the Date: We will be having our Veteran’s Day Assembly on Friday November 9th.
Students may invite family members and friends who have served in any branch of the US Armed Forces. Veterans are invited to join us at 8:00am in the cafeteria for light refreshments and an assembly with our students. Note: due to space and time restrictions, we ask that only Veterans (and another adult if he/she is providing transportation for the Veteran) are able to attend this event. However, if you know a Veteran who is unable to attend, each class will make a poster with the Veterans’ names, branch of service, pictures (optional), or other relevant information. So, go ahead and contact those Veterans and invite them to attend!
Freckle Education
I am continuously adding assignments into Freckle for students to practice in class or at home. I would love for your students to practice at home if able, but this is certainly not a requirement.

Red Ribbon Week:
Dear parents,
It is that time of year again in which October is upon us. Every October, we celebrate Red Ribbon Week. This month, we will learn about drug awareness as it relates to the dangers of alcohol, tobacco products, and improper use of medicine.
Grade 2 will learn about the definition of a drug (something you take that alters the way the body works) and will discuss medicine safety and dangers. They will make a medicine safety book that will come home with them after they have the lesson. We will also discuss the dangers of tobacco use with this age group.
As a school, we display our commitment to drug awareness and healthy choices by engaging in dress up days. These will occur October 29th –November 2nd, 2018.
Oct. 29th – Put A Cap on Drugs (Hat Day)
Oct. 30th - Stomp Out Drugs (Boot Day)
Oct. 31st - Team Up Against Drugs (Team Jersey Day)
Nov. 1st – Don’t Get Tied In Drugs (Tie Die Day)
Nov. 2nd - Drug Free is the Way to Be (Wear Red)
October 29th- Bicycle Day at India Hook
Monday October 29th, in coordination with the City of Rock Hill and USA BMX, we will have a Bicycle Day. This day will include an in house field trip for our fourth graders where they will learn bicycle safety and bicycle skills. The fifth graders will meet a professional BMX rider who is also a part of USA BMX Stem and learn about his profession as a BMX racer as well as a promoter for STEM activities. After the in house field trip and fifth grade talk conclude we will gather 3-5 grade students for a pep rally which will allow them to learn about the many cycling opportunities within the City of Rock Hill. The culminating activity for the day will be a family/community bike ride in the Woodlands subdivision. All students, parents, as well as community members are invited to meet in the back parking lot at 5:45 for a 45 minute right through the neighborhood.
