Welcome to our CTS Snapshot - a weekly celebration update. We are delighted to share with parents and carers alike student triumphs at Corby Technical School. We are proud of every student and every success they have - please feel free to share with us any achievements they might have.

Miss Patrick has made the following nominations this week:
Year 7:
This week students have been continuing to explore how to keep a beat in time on GarageBand and how we can edit our tracks to ensure each beat is in time with the pulse! A special mention to Patricia and Laura in 7TA this week who both managed to edit their bass drum and snare drum tracks perfectly without any help!
Year 8:
Year 8 have been using GarageBand to add interest to their EDM ‘four to the floor’ beat. One of the main challenges is to edit each track so that each part is perfectly in time with each other – students have demonstrated excellent attention to detail in this task. A special mention to EJ in 8CA this week who kept trying, despite some challenges throughout the lesson – brilliant resilience well done!
Year 9:
Year 9 have begun a new topic on Greig’s ‘Peer Gynt Suite’. I was really impressed with the way 9TA discussed tempo and dynamics in ‘In the Hall of the Mountain King’. A special mention to Petru, Gretil, Liam and Lucy who were all able to use the correct musical terminology to express their opinions – brilliant work!
Maths:
Mr Lee has nominated Year 11 students Brandon A and Tearlach for displaying excellent effort in their Maths Intervention class this week.
Ms Adamska has nominated Year 8 students Mario and Laura-Lee for their outstanding contribution in the study on the line of best fit, Year 10 students Jonathan, Myrtle and Robert for their outstanding contribution in the lessons this week and Year 7 student Connor for his outstanding contribution in the lessons this week.
Mr Horne has nominated Year 8 students Olivier, Lauren, Irena, Jack and Joel who have worked well on their independent studies of probability.
Mrs Wynn has nominated 10A3 who have been working really well through the data representation lessons, with a special mention to Louis for his extra effort.
Science:
Scientists of the Week are:
Year 7 student Ryan W for excellent effort in lessons this term.
Year 8 student Trafford for great effort during Science lessons.
Year 9 student Shae H for his fantastic attitude to learning in Science.
Year 10 student Robert for achieving a great score during his last assessment.
Year 11 student Shamiso for a continued great attitude during revision lessons.
Food Tech:
Mrs Firmin has seen some great work by Year 10 Food Science students this week. They have been looking at how protein molecules denature in egg whites to become foams. They also made butter from cream by denaturing the protein molecules with mechanical action, showing how coagulation squeezes out the water content from the cream leaving behind butter. Great work!
DT:
Mr Hirst would like to say thank you to all Year 11 DT students and Year 13 Engineering students who have submitted their Design and Technology course work! It has been a super difficult school year and Mr Hirst is very proud of all your achievements so far! Let the revision begin!
PE:
Mr Rogers has nominated Mason and Johann in 8CU for their excellent work in their PE lessons this week.
Miss Williams would like to nominate Year 7 Student Maisey for excellent team work and skill in Netball. Also nominated is Year 10 student Ella C for outstanding footwork and balance shown in the year 10 Netball lessons. Miss Williams would also like to mention all students who have attended dance club, their attention to detail for each movement and sharing of ideas has helped with their performance of their new street dance piece.
MFL:
Mrs Gonzalez-Villamil Lean has nominated Year 7 as they have shown a great deal of resilience and perseverance in learning how to say the time in Spanish!
Also nominated are Year 10 students Ella C and Ruben for their translation skills and attempting (and succeeding!) to decode more complex structures. Year 8 students Erica and Alicja for being so enthusiastic, participative and supportive of others in Spanish class. Year 9 students Shanli and Aadi for their energy and dedication in Spanish. A special mention to Kurtis for showing a positive attitude to learning in lesson.
Finally, well done to Year 11 students whom are undergoing their Spanish mocks. The MFL Team have seen great dedication from Avantika, Rowan, Cameron and Abigail as well as great energy and refocus in the other members of the group. We are almost there chicos, keep it up!
English:
Mrs Rice has nominated Maisy and Miller in Year 8 for wonderful descriptions of the Sublime, Alicja and Erica for their excellent understanding of the Sublime, Oliwia and Beatrice for excellent analytical paragraphs. and Ann-Maria, Georgia, Luba and Addison for fantastic effort and detail. Also nominated is Year 10 student Will for his knowledge and understanding.
Miss Lodge has nominated 10AP2 for their fantastic poetry comparisons. Even though they were unsure at the start they showed great resilience and perseverance and created some brilliant work that they should be very proud of! Also nominated are 9B1 for their lovely pieces of creative writing and their mature and insightful discussions about the novel we are studying this term. Miss Lodge is so impressed with how hard they are working.
Miss Magnay has nominated Year 11 Language and Literature classes for their hard work in their assessments this week. Also nominated are the Year 10 class who have finishing Romeo and Juliet - they have been so enthusiastic about a challenging text. Finally 7B1 and 7C1 for their fantastic slam poetry writing.
Humanities:
Mrs Vaghadia has nominated Year 11 students Kelly, Naomi, Darcey, Israel, David and Alicjia for their excellent participation in Sociology, discussions have been very intellectual and engaging. Also nominated are Year 10 students Kent, Mason, Alicia, Ella, Hollie, Sanita, Ameila and Mya for their really great score on their research methods assessment, Mrs Vaghadia is very proud of you.
Mr Hallas would like to nominate the following students for their active engagement in this week’s Geography lessons. Their answers showcased an excellent understand of the topics being covered: Saketh (7ST), Sophie (7ST), Jessica (7ST), Jakub (11E Geography), Gurkirat (8TA), Dominik (8TA), Mirren (7TA), Luke (7TA), Samuel (7TA), Ronan (7TA), Thomas (9SW), Millie (8CU), Alicja (8CU). Well done and keep up the great work!
Mr Harris has nominated Lucas in 7SI. His written work is exceptional in history, oral answers are extraordinary and his knowledge is beyond brilliant! Keep it up! Also nominated are Year 11 students Kelly and Israel who are working exceptionally hard both inside and outside the classroom in history and Mr Harris is very impressed.
Mr Strumpher has nominated Year 11C Geography class for working so hard over the last few weeks. They work really hard in lessons and when completing work. Well done!
Also nominated are Year 10 students Neave W, Cameron H, Reuben and Danils P for their hard work in every Geography lesson. Keep up the good work!
Mr Gealy would like to thank Miss Gilbert and Mr Strumpher for their hard work organising the Geography conference this week. Mr Gealy was very proud of the students in Year 11 that attended, their attitude was amazing and the work they produced was great.
