Update from Miss Kate
Dear 4-H Families,
A couple of important dates to note are June 15 (all Livestock ID's due to the Extension Office by 5:00 p.m., emailed forms will be accepted this year) & July 1 (pre-fair entries close at 5:00 p.m.).
We are continuing to navigate through the process of planning for fairs with Covid-19 modifications in place. The Lincoln County 4-H Council is meeting Monday night and we'll have more details in relation to schedule/changes afterwards.
Please reach out to me with specific questions!
Sincerely,
Miss Kate

Lincoln County Fair Updates
The Lincoln County Fair 4-H livestock shows will have a different look this year due to Covid-19 modifications. In order to meet the state’s current directed health measures, only superintendents, direct volunteers, parents and youth exhibitors will be allowed to attend.
The Ag Society and our office is currently working on a plan to identify attendees that may include the use of colored wristbands. Keep watching for more details. The Ag Society is also working on contracting with someone to live stream the shows.
Here is the *tentative* schedule for the livestock shows. These dates may change due to registration numbers:
» 4-H horse show, July 18-19
» 4-H dog show, July 21
» 4-H poultry and rabbit show, July 23
» 4-H goat show, July 23
» 4-H sheep show, July 24
» 4-H cattle show, July 25
» 4-H hog show, July 26
Superintendents and direct volunteers for the fair will have their temperature taken at the door, and superintendents either weighing or filling out paperwork will wear masks and disposable gloves.
The state’s guidance document will be followed for livestock shows. The guidelines can be found at https://nda.nebraska.gov/COVID-19/fairopenings.pdf

4-H Horse Advancement Levels DUE!
With the in-person meeting restriction being extended to June 15, the State Office is moving to a virtual skills and demonstration testing format. Horse Exhibitors, you should have received an email that outlines this process.
All Level Advancement Paperwork/Documentation is due Monday, June 15 by 5:00 p.m.
State Horse Show Goes Virtual
Continued uncertainty about COVID-19 in Grand Island and whether or not approval would be granted from the Health Department coupled with concerns from volunteers and staff and the ability to offer a high quality experience for youth, the State 4-H office has chosen to make the difficult decision to cancel the in-person show for 2020.
A Fun Virtual State Horse Show will be offered for 2020 so every 4-Her has the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and effort they have put into their horse project. We understand all of your disappointment with this decision and hope this will be a new way to introduce youth to a trend that is increasing in popularity across the industry. Nebraska State Fair Livestock Nominations - Deadline Extended
The Nebraska State Fair Livestock nomination deadline has been extended to July 1st. Exhibitors are required to submit their DNA envelopes to the Extension Office and have completed their online nomination through https://showstockmgr.com/ along with submitting payment online by July 1. Let us know if you have questions!
4-H T-Shirts
In the past, all of our new Lincoln County 4-H members have received a free 4-H t-shirt. We were also able to sell extras & replace outgrown tees. We had a sponsor that was paying for & providing the shirts. We are not sure this will be the case moving forward. If you need a new shirt (that will be allowable to wear during shows at fair) please visit: https://shop4-h.org/
Shirts should be plain and have the official 4-H Clover (No name(s) or club identifiers for the show ring). Below are pictures of the shirts that fit the requirement. Please let us know if you have questions!
Quality Assurance - Important Update!
*Youth planning to exhibit at the Nebraska State fair will need to complete the online quality assurance training by June 15th.
With our in-person restriction going through June 15, we are waiting to hear if the deadline will be extended so we can offer an alternate/in-person option to those who only plan to exhibit at the county fair. Please stay tuned.
*ALL Livestock Exhibitors are REQUIRED to complete this training. It includes both Market & Breeding animals. Please contact us if you have any questions.
See the details below on signing up for the online.
We are in need of empty 2 liter bottles!
Photography Project Changes

We also have a limited supply of manuals available for purchase at the Extension Office.
The new names for each level are: Photography Basics (Beginner), Next Level Photography (Intermediate), & Mastering Photography (Advanced). There are some online resources related to each here: https://4-h.org/parents/curriculum/photography/#!photography-basics
