University of Edinburgh
Geographical Society Newsletter
Editor's Letter
To everyone who was here last year, welcome back – get prepared for social number 2, and to the first years, welcome to the University of Edinburgh Geographical Society. I hope that you have found your feet at University, and have enjoyed a mixture of the night life, societies, classes, and making friends with your new flatmates (and if you live with another Geographer – bonus!). We, as the Geography society, are here to make your time at University that bit more fun and entertaining, with a number of socials, lecture series, lots of cake, sports teams, and to top it all – the annual Spring ball!
The newsletter is something we do to keep you updated on all news within GeogSoc, publishing pictures from our socials , and you may find an interview or two from some pretty inspiring Geographers. The newsletter will hopefully get you excited for things to come in the future of your degree, in addition to offering you specific advice on certain aspects of University that you may come across.
Without further ado, I shall stop rambling (currently writing this in advance over summer on my morning London commute) and let you enjoy the newsletter. I hope you like the fieldwork pictures, and good luck for the rest for University!

Fieldwork Edition!
Dissertation Fieldwork!
The dissertation is an important part of your degree and your opportunity to study something you love! In my case, that involves lots of numbers and is very boring, but Francesca Baladacchino and Megan Blyth have kindly shared their exciting fieldwork experiences from their dissertation research so far. I hope you enjoy (and may feel inspired!)
