Early Childhood Literacy Workshop
Essential Instructional Practices in Early Literacy
Two workshop dates to choose from: June 30 or July 20, 9:00-2:30
Free to all PreK/Y5 teachers, early childhood programs, and in-home providers!
Literacy knowledge and skills developed in the preschool years predict later literacy achievement. Join fellow early childhood educators for a workshop geared toward engaging you in hands-on literacy practices so that you can engage the children in your care! Those who attend will receive the following:
- Books to inspire young builders and engineers
- Dramatic, pretend play items (wooden cash register & more)
- Songs, poems, and games to play with words
- Ideas Family collaboration and events
The Early Childhood Workshop is based upon the new "Essential Instructional Practices in Early Literacy" for PreKindergarten. The purpose of these practices is to increase Michigan's capacity to improve children's literacy by focusing upon 10 research-supported practices that will make a difference in the development of the child.
