Do you want to change your child's Learning Location for the 4th Nine Weeks??

Dear Mahanay Families,

It’s hard to believe we are rapidly approaching the end of the third nine weeks grading period, which ends on March 12.

The fourth nine weeks grading cycle will begin upon our return from Spring Break on Monday, March 22, 2021. Per TEA guidelines, families are allowed to formally change their child’s mode of instruction (virtual or in-person) before the start of a new grading period.

If you wish to keep your child’s learning mode, you need not do anything at this time.

However, if you would like to change your child’s learning mode (from virtual to in-person or from in-person to virtual) for the fourth grading period (March 22 to June 3), you must complete the form linked here (or scan the QR code below) no later than Friday, March 5 at 11:59 p.m. for each of your children attending Mahanay.

After you complete the form the first time, you will see the option to submit another response in case you have more than one child attending our school. You will need to complete the form for each child you have attending this school whose learning mode you want to change.

Our goal is to maintain consistency for students, while also maintaining our class size and safety structures. In some cases we may need to change a student’s teacher(s) in order to better serve everyone's needs in the new grading period.

Please contact us at 281-983-8355 with any questions about this process. For families who choose to switch their mode of instruction, we will follow up with additional information the week of March 8.

It's almost time for Mahanay's Hoedown!!!

The Mahanay Elementary P.E. Department would like to cordially invite you to virtually attend our Annual Hoedown Friday, March 12th at 2:00pm. K-4th graders learning in-person will participate at school. Students learning virtually can participate as well via zoom! This will be similar to how we did the sing-along.

In-person learners will also get to take a picture with the green screen background for free (so try not to wear bright green)!

Tardies and Early Release

Our procedures for tardies and early release have changed slightly this year, since we are not allowed to have non-staff members in the buildings without appointments.

Students are tardy if they arrive after 7:55 am. If your child arrives after 7:55 am, they will receive a tardy pass from the front office when they walk in. Parents are no longer permitted to walk them in if they are late. You may walk them to the door, and we will help them get to class from there.

Early Release:

If you need to pick your child up from school early, please call the front office to let them know. 281-983-8355. If you call and let us know when you are close, we can get your child ready for you when you arrive.

We do still need to check your ID before we release any children. When you arrive, please come to the front door with your mask on and your ID ready to show a staff member. After we have verified your ID, we will release your student to you.
