Your Invitation for Thursday Evening
Please Join Us
As a parent myself, I understand the challenges of parenting today's student. In considering where we are presently and where the future is headed, I would argue that there are very few issues in parenting and education that are as consequential as how we deal with cell phones and our children.
To address this question, we are inviting parents with students in grades 4 through 8, along with their students if they wish, to join us this Thursday evening, February 24th, at 6:00pm at the Clinton High School Auditorium.
Dr. Brooke Spatta from Presbyterian College will talk with the audience about what developmentally appropriate for children with regards to cell phones. Using her background as an expert in Developmental Psychology, Dr. Spatta will discuss strategies that can be used to ensure cell phones do not distract from the academic, social, and emotional growth of students.
Todd Johnson, a retired Newberry County Sheriff's Deputy, will also join us. Mr. Johnson is an expert on the dangers that cell phones, and in particular various apps, can present to today's student. He will discuss how parents can keep their students safe from both the internal and external threats that cell phones and social media can present.
If you would like to join us for dinner, it will be served at 5:15pm in the Clinton High School cafeteria. We would like for you to sign up using this form. Please help us by signing up by the end of the day on Monday February 21st. There will also be door prizes, including gift cards and an Apple Watch!
We look forward to seeing you on Thursday evening!
Thanks!
Jeff
