Safety Patrol is Up and Running
This week our first ever Safety Patrol got up and running! The 13 fifth graders you see pictured were selected to help around the school each morning between 7:10-7:40am. They greet students each morning, help out in the cafeteria, walk new students to their classes and help out in our bus lane. We are so proud of this amazing group of kids and love to see them stepping into these leadership positions.

Read-a-Thon
Wilson Creek Elementary has decided to hold a Read-a-thon this year!
Read-a-thons get your reader excited about reading and it gives friends and family the opportunity to encourage your child to read even more. Our Read-a-thon starts Monday February 28, 2022.
About one week before our Read-a-thon starts we will send home instructions on how to activate your reader's personal page. This is where you will be able to view and record their progress.
We encourage you to activate your reader’s account today by clicking on https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/KIhskF/1 and following the simple instructions.
We've chosen Read-a-thon because it will not take much of your time, gives your child a reason to read and helps in the development of stronger reading skills.

Opportunity for Parents of Rising 6th Graders going to Autrey Mill
Dear Parents of rising 6th Grade Autrey Mill MS students,
It is time for the election of a new parent member to our AMMS School Governance Council. The School Governance Council has one parent/guardian position open for election. Parents or guardians of students who will be attending our school during both the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 school years are eligible to run for the parent/guardian SGC position. Our School Governance Council (SGC) plays a critical role in the success of our school. The SGC works with school leadership and the community to help determine the long-term direction of the school, design innovative solutions to increase academic achievements, and serve as school ambassadors to the local community.
Specifically, the School Governance Council has the following powers:
- Create, approve, and monitor the implementation of the school strategic plan
- Manage the Request for Flexibility process
- Approve the annual budget recommendations and related allocations
- Participate in the hiring of the principal, in the case of a vacancy
- Provide annual feedback to the Area Superintendent on principal performance
If you are interested in running for a position on the Autrey Mill MS School Governance Council, please complete and submit a Parent/Guardian Candidate Declaration Form .
We are excited about the work and value-add of our SGC. We hope that you will consider running for a position! The Candidate Declaration period ends March 2nd and voting will take place March 23-March 30. In the meantime, if you would like more information about the charter system or SGC elections visit our school’s website or our Charter System Overview
