STAAR EOC ( End of Course)
STAAR/EOC( STAAR End of Course)
TEA ( Texas Education Agency) has waived the STAAR EOC requirement for this 2019-2020 school year, which include STAAR, STAAR End of Course, and STAAR Alternate 2. The state also submitted a request for federal testing to be waived as well. To view this communication, go to the following site:

STAAR and Graduation Requirements. What does this mean for your student?
Under normal circumstances, students in high school need to pass 3 out of the 5 STAAR End of Course assessments in order to graduate, in addition to other criteria stated in the Texas Education Code 28.025(c).
The following information is listed as guidance on the TEA website regarding student graduation:
Students who were still working on STAAR EOC assessment requirements and planning to retake the EOC this Spring or Summer may still graduate regardless of how many STAAR EOC’s the student has not passed. For example, if up to today, you have only met two of your STAAR EOC you will still be eligible to graduate.
All seniors and potential graduates at Highlands High School who had not met all 5 STAAR EOC’s before December 2019 held a conference with their high school counselor regarding their requirements for IGC ( Individual Graduation Committee). Although student’s testing has been waived, students will still participate in an Individual Graduation Committee which consists of counselors, teachers, and the principal or designee.
The IGC committee will determine and ensure that all graduation requirements have been met. Your student has been assigned one course assignment for every STAAR EOC they had not yet mastered. This assignment is via Edgenuity. Students MUST complete a total of 120% and maintain a grade of at least a 70. This is a requirement for graduation. This information was shared with all IGC candidates. Edgenuity EOC classes are EOC English I ( for students who still had not met English I EOC), EOC English II ( for students who still had not met English II EOC), EOC Algebra I ( for students who still had not met Algebra I EOC), EOC Biology (for students who still had not met Biology EOC),and EOC US History ( for students who still had not met US History EOC). If your student is an IGC candidate, this course has already been loaded in their Edgenuity account.
Students who are 9th,10th, and 11th grade. STAAR End of Course Updates.
Students who are on track to earn a full credit for a course that they would have had to take a test in will not be required to take that EOC in the future. For example, if your student is a sophomore this year he/she is enrolled in English II. This course is tied to an EOC. Your student will not have to take the English II EOC before he/she graduates. The student will be exempt from the requirement to take and pass the English II EOC. High school credit courses that are tied to the EOC are English I, English II, Algebra I, Biology, and US History.
