Ms. Crisp's Weekly Newsletter
December 14th - 18th, 2015
What's Happening This Week?
It's the last week before break! I know we're all super excited and looking forward to it, but please try to keep routines at home as normal as possible to help your child be the best student they can be for this last week of school in 2015.
Some things that are happening this week are:
- The Holiday Meal is this Wednesday in the cafeteria, and parent lunch is $5. Parents of 3rd, 4th, and 5th are invited to come have lunch with their students! Our lunch time is 10:30. We hope you'll join us!
- The Winter Concert is this Thursday at 6:30. Your student will need to meet us in my classroom between 6:00 and 6:15. They'll need to be wearing (if at all possible) a solid-color shirt in red, green, white, or blue, but it doesn't matter what they wear on the bottom. There will be a meal served by the PTO starting at 5:00, the 5th grade DC fundraiser baskets will be raffled off, and the book fair will be open. They will not have homework on Thursday to encourage concert attendance! Please make every effort to make sure your child gets to show off their hard work and attend the concert!
- There will be a lovely read-aloud done by Ms. Cain on Friday, and she has officially invited everyone to wear their PJs that day! So cozy!
- We'll be having a class Holiday Party on Friday the 18th at 2:00! Parents are welcome to come in and hang out if they so desire. There'll be food for the students and a fun winter activity to celebrate the holidays and the last week before break.
What Are We Learning This Week?
- Daily 5: Writing persuasive letters to the mayor and, as always, building up stamina to be better readers and writers.
- Reading Groups: Finishing up vocabulary and using context clues.
- Science: Beginning forces and motion!
- Math: Continuing skip counting, number charts, and arrays to learn multiplication. Working on our multiplication facts and fluency. Be practicing with those multiplication cards!
