Update on Guidance for Next School Year

See below news article related to the latest from the State of Illinois regarding guidance for schools in the fall. School districts are still waiting for official guidance for the 2021-22 school year.

from 'The Center Square' 6/29/21 - click here for full story

"The Center Square reports on Superintendents seeking guidance. From the story:

Gov. J.B. Pritzker says those wanting clearer guidance for in-person education won’t get complete certainty. The governor also said the COVID-19 pandemic isn’t over. Schools across the state are still waiting for more detailed guidance on how to bring students back full-time while still complying with the governor’s COVID-19 protocol. Those protocols require students to be back full time this fall, but schools must continue social distancing and masks are still required. Large Unit District Association Executive Director John Burkey said districts are excited to have children back full time for the coming semester. But, he said that doesn’t mesh with guidance to continue socially distancing in schools as the rest of the state is in Phase 5 of the governor’s reopening plan with no capacity restrictions."

Important Note On Masks

Governor Pritzker has extended the executive order requiring masks in schools through July 24, 2021. This means that if students are present then everyone in the school is still required to mask. We will monitor the status of this executive order as July 24th approaches.

Presented by AMITA Health

District 41 is partnering with AMITA Health to host a FREE vaccine clinic for students ages 12 and up, family members and staff. The clinic will take place on July 14 and August 4 for doses one and two, 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Hadley Junior High, 240 Hawthorne Blvd, Glen Ellyn. Participants will enter Hadley using Door 9. Anyone under 18 will need a parent/guardian present.

Please CLICK HERE to fill out the form. AMITA will follow up to schedule your appointments. Please do not schedule yourself/your child if you will not be available to attend both the 7/14 and 8/4 clinic dates. All interested participants should have a conversation and get their questions answered regarding the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine with their own and their child's primary healthcare provider.

These dates will allow those who get vaccinated to be considered "fully vaccinated" by the start of the 2021-2022 school year. This event is being offered as a courtesy to our families as the vaccine is not mandated. In order to host this event, we need to have a minimum of 50 participants.

New School Meal Program for Everyone!

District 41 is pleased to partner with Marquardt Food and Nutrition Services to provide all children with free meals this summer and through next school year. The free meals are made possible by a federal program being offered due to the pandemic.

Meals will be packaged in colorful recyclable packaging to get kids excited about eating lunch! Online pre-ordering will be available starting next school year. More information will be provided to families soon and posted on social media. The district is excited to be able to support all families with this fun healthy and free daily meal service at school. Don’t hesitate to pre-order food next year for your kids at school.
