Dear Gentry Families,
What happened to our beautiful Spring like weather? Though frigid weather is not unheard of for mid Missouri during the springtime months, having actual snow fall in late April does seem a bit late. I can't remember the last time that we had to cancel a track meet for snow, but that is just what we had to do. Can anyone say BRRRR?! Thankfully the forecast shows a slow return to normal seasonal temperatures in the coming weeks ahead. Have a great weekend!

CPS PIE ART WINDOWS VIRTUAL GALLERY SUBMISSIONS
As with all things this year the PIE Art Windows display during Partners in Education Week (May 3 – 7, 2021) is going to be completely different this year. There is an opportunity to showcase student art. The City of Columbia Office of Cultural Affairs wants to celebrate the work of CPS student artists! Rather than displaying artwork in the windows of downtown businesses, this year OCA has created a virtual gallery to showcase student masterpieces. Artwork can be submitted by either teachers or students/parents by filling out the submission form and attaching a photo of the artwork to be showcased. The link to do this is here.
Submissions are needed by April 26th at 5pm. Please consider submitting at least one or two pieces. It doesn’t have to be current work and could showcase student talents from previous years.
Thank you for helping to support PIE Week and celebrating these amazing partnerships!
If you have any questions, please email oca@como.gov
Incoming 8th Grade Students Proof of Immunizations- Don't Delay!
The primary dose of the Tdap and Meningitis vaccines are generally administered to adolescents in the 6th grade (or between the ages of 11-12). It is a state REQUIREMENT that we obtain proof that your student has received the primary dose of both of these vaccinations PRIOR to their first day of 8th grade. If your student will be attending summer school as an incoming 8th grade student they will need to provide this proof PRIOR to starting summer school. Eighth grade students who have NOT provided us with this documentation will not be permitted to attend classes until this documentation is provided.
There is no need to wait! This documentation can be submitted to our nurse any time after your student receives these two vaccines. Providing this proof promptly will ensure that your student will be ready to start the 8th grade without delay. If you have any questions, please contact the main office at 214-3240.
Attention Current 8th Grade Students
