  • 1840- 1885 most popular house style

    • Typically 2 story building

    • low-pitched or flat roof

    • The most common type of porch column was a square post, usually 6 feet

    • Wide, overhanging eaves with brackets and cornices

    • Tall, narrow, double-paned windows with hood moldings

    • Side bay window

    • Heavily molded double doors

    • Roman or segmented arches above windows and doors
