Woodland Park Middle School
Welcome to middle school!

March 17: A Letter from Mrs.Goings
March 17, 2021
Dear Families of 5th Grade Students,
We are excited to welcome you to Woodland Park Middle School for the 2021-2022 school year. It is hard to believe that we are welcoming the graduating class of 2028!
This is an important time for us to develop a partnership to make sure the transition to middle school is as smooth as possible. Please take a moment to register your child following this link. Register as soon as possible as this will ensure that we have a spot for your student at WPMS and can plan for an excellent learning experience.
We understand the transition to middle school can be overwhelming. In order to prepare our incoming 6th grade students to be their best, we offer a Jump Start program. Jump Start will run August 2nd-5th from 8:30-11:30. It is highly recommended that students attend this program. Registration is easy and can be done as part of the district registration process.
By attending WPMS your student has access to a high quality and rigorous curriculum, highly qualified teachers, enrichment classes that include PE, instrumental and vocal music, art, technology, family and consumer sciences, and STEM. In addition, 6th grade students may choose to join our competitive cross country and wrestling teams. Club opportunities include mountain bike club, lunch time book clubs, knowledge bowl, cooking club, and many many more!
Woodland Park Middle School exists to inspire learning and empower growth. We believe that students need to do more than just master content in order to be successful. Your student will learn how to set goals, plan how to learn, demonstrate learning, and reflect on that learning. We effectively integrate social emotional learning into our day because we know that how students learn to treat each other is just as important as their academic learning.
If you have questions about our learning environment or would like to visit the school please feel free to reach out to us at 719-686-2200 or email Principal Goings at ygoings@wpsdk12.org or Assistant Principal Erin Street at estreet@wpsdk12.org. We look forward to welcoming your students to WPMS!
Go Panthers!

Music Class Selection
One exciting part of middle school is that students begin to have choice in the selection of their courses. 6th grade students are required to take a music course, but may choose their course. Please take a few minutes to complete the WPMS Music Course Choice Sheet survey (see below). This information will be used to begin our process of building student schedules.
All 6th grade students are required to take a music class. Click here to select your choice!
