Whataburger set to break ground in Sunnyvale
Whataburger is beginning construction on their new site in Sunnyvale the first week of February!
The restaurant will be located on the southwest corner of U.S. 80 and South Collins Road in the Sunnyvale Centre.
Other businesses that are in the development process include, Starbucks, Burger King, Charales Plaza, O'Reilly Auto Parts, Settlers Table, and several others.
Police Department continues rolling out new programs
- The Safe Exchange - location at the PD where you can conduct exchanges with people you may not know (such as online purchases).
- The Take Me Home Program - register a family member with a disability to enhance communication in an emergency situation.
- Video Crime Watch Program - let the PD know if you have video cameras that may provide footage if a crime takes place in your area.
- Prescription Drop Off.
- School Resource Officers.
The Department is in the process of developing a Citizens Police Academy as well. For more information on any of these programs, please visit POLICE.
COVID-19 vaccine registration
The COVID-19 vaccine is still in very limited supply and is still being prioritized to those in Phase 1A (i.e., healthcare workers). However, limited supplies of vaccine may be available for persons who meet the Phase 1B criteria (persons 65 and older, or persons with underlying medical conditions). Dallas County Health and Human Services (DCHHS) is collecting names of persons to register for the vaccine as additional doses of the vaccine become available.

To register for the vaccine by phone, please call the DCHHS Vaccine Registration Hotline at (469) 749-9900. The hotline hours are Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Registration assistance is available in both English and Spanish.
Dallas County launches 2021 Housing Program
The Emergency Housing Assistance Program - 2021 (EHAP - 2021) provides short-term rental, mortgage, and utility assistance to low income Dallas County residents living outside of the City of Dallas economically affected (loss/reduction of income) by the spread of COVID-19. More information on the EHAP-2021 program can be found in the flyer below or by visiting Dallas County's EHAP website.
Additionally, the Texas Eviction Diversion Program (TEDP) will commence in Dallas County in February 2021. Please see the attached flyer below for more information or visit the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs' website.
Collins Road roundabout
For your safety and the safety of others, please view the informational diagram and video below on how to safely use the roundabout located on Collins Road. Just remember to yield to traffic that is already in the roundabout. If you are in the roundabout, keep moving. There is still some work to be completed, including decorative lighting.
