"Be a gift of love and compassion for one another."
St. Mary of the Cross MacKillop
From the Principal
Dear Parents and Carers
A huge thank you to the P&F ladies led by Mrs Tulett for organising the Father’s Day Breakfast this morning. There was a great turnout of dads and a wonderful treat for the Dad’s for Father’s Day. Well done to all involved.
A reminder that I will be away from next Thursday for the remainder of the term. I will be in Belgium working with a number of WA and SA school Principals on Contemporary RE in Australian Catholic Schools. While I am away Mrs Komnick will be in charge and Ms Sadowski will be covering some of Mrs Komnick’s work.
Many thanks to our School Wellness Committee for organising the Wellness Week activities for the students and staff. It was also great that we had Jeremy McClure, who is related to the Ng Cheong Tin family, being available to talk to the students about how they can achieve really well if they are passionate enough and work hard enough. A great talk on how to work with adversity and not just to give up. A big thank you to the P&F for sponsoring Jeremy.
I attended the School Choir performances at the Catholic Education’s 2019 Performing Arts Festival last week and this week. They sang beautifully and were a credit to the training and guidance from Mrs McDonald. A big thank you to Mrs McDonald for the time and work that she puts into training the choirs so well.
Many thanks to Mrs Malarkey and the library staff for the wonderful work that they put into organising Book Week and the book week staff item. Book Week was a huge success with students, and a great way to promote reading and books which in some parts of today’s society can be forgotten due the use of technology. Well done to all involved.
Happy Father’s Day to all Fathers’ on Sunday.
God bless.
Allen McMahon
Principal

Parish News
On Saturday in the Vigil Mass at 6pm I will celebrate my 45th anniversary of Ordination on 31 August 1974. The guest homilist will be Fr Greg Carroll with whom I have worked closely for 35 of those years. Fr Greg was homilist for Fr Vincent Conroy’s 50th anniversary celebrated at Como last year. After the Jubilee Mass there will be a reception in the Parish Centre. ALL ARE WELCOME. Attached is a memento Prayer Card for my anniversary, including a Commentary on the Lord’s Prayer.
It’s a happy coincidence that my anniversary of Ordination, is on the eve of Father’s Day. So during the Sunday Masses at 7.30am and 9.30am there will be a Blessing for all fathers present, and prayers for any who have died, especially Ron Van Der Beuken, R.I.P.
I enjoyed being with the school community this morning for the Fathers' Day Breakfast.
May God Bless you all.
