Dear Parents, Guardians and Community Members,
On Thursday, May 26th, all elementary school students, their families, and community members are invited to join us at our first end-of-year elementary Celebration of Learning! This event, which will be held between 5:00-6:15PM in
Wamogo's main gymnasium, will feature each elementary school student's personally selected work that showcases his or her best effort, such as written pieces, mathematical representations, artwork, MakerSpace creations, science models and more.
Visitors are welcome to arrive at any point during the 75-minute window, and to visit the variety of stations that will be arranged in the gymnasium, at least one of which will feature your child's work. Teachers will be at their respective stations to greet and assist you as you explore. We look forward to seeing all of you at this new event, the latest in our series of connections between the students and staff of all three of our RSD6 elementary schools!
Thank you,
Tracy Keilty

News from Mrs. Spino's Fourth Grade Class
Students in fourth grade are creating ecocolumn or an ecosystem investigation column. This is an exciting unit for the students. They get to work with living creatures and become investigative experimenters.
Ecocolumns were created from three different 2-liter bottles. Students marked and cut parts for the terrarium, aquarium and a connector. Students will be investigating the balance of an ecosystem and how different components interact with each other. Once students set up the terrarium and aquarium, students recorded the amount/size, color/description, and texture/shape of the items added to the terrarium. Then, students followed guidelines to generate scientific drawings. As the mustard seeds, alfalfa seeds and rye grass seeds germinate and grow, students are recording daily changes through careful observations in their terrarium environment by measuring seedlings and noting moisture content. Soon the “critters” will arrive. Students will add isopods and crickets to the terrarium section. To the aquarium section, live aquatic plants such as duckweed, elodea, and algae will be added. Finally, live animals, such as snails and mosquito fish will be added. Again, students will record their observations in a scientific drawing and note changes in their Science Journals.
