Cedar Grove Friday Flash
September 29, 2017
Dear Cedar Grove Families,
It's been another wonderful week! As a reminder, our PTA meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 3rd at 7:00 p.m. Ms. Karina Hirschhorn, our Media Specialist, will present important information about the new Parent Portal, which will provide parents with access to view a variety of important information about their child. We hope you will be able to attend.
Mr. Derby and Mrs. German
Safety Drills
So far during this school year, students have practiced two fire drills. They have done a great job evacuating the building in a quiet and timely manner. On October 4, the children will participate in a Lockdown to Shelter drill. Later in the school year, students will practice weather and evacuation drills. We appreciate your support in helping your child know the importance of these drills, which are designed to prepare students and staff how to respond and maintain safety in the event of a real emergency.
Come on In!
Monday, October 9, is our annual Parent Open House. This is a time for parents, many of whom may be off work for the Columbus Day holiday, to visit their children’s school to sit in on their classes and see firsthand the curriculum and instruction that make up our schools today. I invite you to join us Monday morning from 9:15 a.m. through your child’s lunch time. If you do visit, please be sure to sign in on the clipboard in the front hallway when you arrive and to wear a visitor badge throughout your stay. Also, please remember that this is a time for observation and not for parent-teacher conferences. We look forward to seeing you on the 9th.
Calling all Volunteers!
Parents, we are in great need of recess volunteers, particularly for our kindergarten children. The greatest need is from 1:20 to 2:00. Please contact Mrs. German at the school if you are interested in helping. Thank you.
Pink Out Wednesdays
Every year, our school community Pinks Out on Wednesdays in October to honor and remember a beloved colleague and friend and to raise Breast Cancer Awareness. We hope you and your children will join us again in Pinking Out! Our first Pink Out will be on October 4! Send photos of your Pinks to Mrs. Hirschhorn and look for the compilation video at the end of the month!
