A Message from Our PTA President
Hi Hickory Families!
Thank you to all those who have already become a PTA member or donated to PTA. In the future, only PTA members or those who signed up for our mailing list will receive this newsletter, so be sure to complete one of those things!
In our monthly newsletters, we will keep you informed of school and PTA events, as well as highlight programs that still need volunteers.
Let us know if you have any questions or even any ideas/opportunities to keep Hickory the best elementary school in Torrance!
Here are links to the updated PTA Calendar and District Calendar.
Thank you,
Sunny Joo
Hickory PTA President

“Show Your Voice!”
That’s the theme for the 2022-23 Reflections Art Program, which has been bringing the arts to life for more than 10 million students since 1969.
California State PTA and its members, families and kids are on the forefront of this amazing program, which increases community awareness of the importance of arts in education.
Reflections encourages students of all ages to:
- Unleash creative talents and be inspired
- Express themselves imaginatively in their artwork
- Experience the fun and joy of making art
- Tap into critical thinking skills to create art inspired by the annual theme
- Receive positive recognition for their original works of art.

The Skechers Walk is being held on Sunday, October 30th at 10AM.
We invite you to register as a member of our HICKORY HOUNDS 22-23 team and help raise funds for our school! Please be sure to include your teacher's name when registering (Example: Tom Smith-Lo Grande) and select Hickory Elementary from the dropdown school menu (otherwise our school/teacher will NOT receive the donation).
Also, don't forget to choose TORRANCE EDUCATION FOUNDATION (TEF) when selecting where you would like your contribution to go.
100% of your $30 registration fee benefits Hickory!

We're planning to open the Hickory library in October, but we need your help! The library is 100% volunteer-based, and every class gets to check out books and enjoy library time.
If you're interested in volunteering in the library, please let your teacher know or email Adrienne Downs at adriennedowns@earthlink.net.
🎨 Adventures in Art (AIA)
Thank you all for your interest in AIA!
If you'd like to help out, you can still sign up to volunteer on the day of the art lesson. Please coordinate with your teacher and AIA docent directly.
