Mr. Corso's Weekly Update
October 17, 2021
The Teacher Wish List Fundraiser
From the Education Foundation of BMMS: The Teacher Wish List Fundraiser - a great way to directly support your student’s teachers - is back! Our Education Foundation has organized a website listing the wish lists of our teachers. Go to the Wish List Site beginning Sunday, October 17th at 5pm to see your student’s teachers’ wish lists
Your donation goes directly to those BMMS teachers to fund the items they need most. I also have a Principal’s Wish List that I created to fund the items that BMMS needs most to help our school run smoothly. Don’t see your teacher listed? They may not know what they need - yet! In that case, you can also donate to the Teacher Grants fund, and the Foundation will grant teachers’ needs throughout the 2021-2022 school year.
The Wish List Site will run from Sunday, October 17th through Sunday, October 31st. We thank you in advance for supporting our teachers and our students. Thank you for your support.

This Week’s Positive Support Message: My message to students this week on Tuesday focused on kindness…Our quad is looking much better. It is up to each and everyone of us to keep it clean. Can you imagine what our school would look like if each of us picked up 5 pieces of trash each day? What if we picked up 5 people a day? Sometimes we all need a pick me up. We are having a bad day, or we a little bummed. Pick someone up by making their day. Open a door for them, give them a compliment, a smile, or a high five, make a new friend, invite someone to eat lunch with you who is alone, or just say hi. Pick up 5 pieces of trash, pick up 5 people. If you picked up 5 and 5 everyday, Black Mountain and you would be better off for it. Thank you for listening Kind Raiders.
Foundation Assistant Treasurer Needed: Are you interested in becoming more involved at Black Mountain? Please consider joining the Educational Foundation at Black Mountain Middle School - we are looking for an Assistant Treasurer. No knowledge of QuickBooks required!! Please contact treasurerefbmms@gmail.com of efbmmspresident@gmail.com if interested.
PTSA: Are you a member of Black Mountain Middle School PTSA? For $11, you can help us reach our goal of 150 memberships. PTSA supports our school community through a variety of important funding initiatives and activities, and we encourage all families and educators to consider joining.
BMMS hopes you had a good Conference Week.
We appreciate your support and partnership,
Scott Corso

Home Field Ambassadors
BMMS is proud to recognize Nathan L and Drew R as Home Field Ambassadors. Drew and Nathan share a class with a non-verbal student. They do their best to make their classmate feel included and welcomed. Way to go #KindRaiders! If you would like to nominate someone (Educator/Parent/Student) as a Home Field Ambassador, please email JoAnne Larson sjlarson@powayusd.com with your nominee and the “why”.
Coffee with the Principal
Our next Coffee with the Principal is Tuesday, October 19 at 8:15am on Zoom. We will discuss future BMMS facility plans, the Foundation’s Wishlist and the Big IDEA at BMMS. At every Coffee with the Principal, families can ask questions and offer ideas. Last year, we had more families participate in the Coffee with the Principals than ever using Zoom. We plan to continue this practice to open up more access for families. Your full name must be displayed in Zoom for you to participate in the meeting. I hope you consider joining us: https://powayusd.zoom.us/j/3140895327?pwd=Z3EwWlk1TWVCRGhRL2luMXBxanBsZz09

BMMS Book Fair
We’re excited to invite you to our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair. Hosted by our educators, this event is an opportunity for students of all ages to build their home libraries and further their love of reading. As always, all purchases benefit our school. After missing out on many beloved traditions, our fall Book Fair will be a familiar, welcome, and safe event for our students. Here’s what you need to know about the Fair, which will take place from Monday, October 18-Friday, October 22 at BMMS. Our Book Fair offers a cash-free payment option called eWallet. It’s a convenient digital account that your child can use for shopping at our Fair. Grandparents, friends, and others can contribute, too!
If you can’t make it to the Fair, then shop online at our school’s Virtual Book Fair. All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Your online orders will also benefit our school. Visit our Book Fair homepage to learn more and get started with eWallet and online shopping:
