NP³ Elementary 2021-2022
Matey Message Week 5 August 30 - Sept 3
I may not be there yet but I am closer than I was yesterday.
Dear Matey Families,
We are one month into school! Students have completed beginning of year and baseline data assessments. Teachers will share more about those at your Quarter 1 Conferences (mid-September). Students have also fallen into the routines of their classrooms. You may even notice the excitement about school is not what it was a month ago. Classes are more rigorous and the academic expectations have risen. This is very typical and very normal! I have attached an article below from Dr. Jill Isenberg, a pediatric neuropsychologist. Dr. Isenbug does an excellent job describing how your students (and you) may be feeling 4-6 weeks into a school year and how you can best navigate the year.
I have also attached two Amazon wishlists. We are in the process of collecting materials for our k/1 playground and our 2-5 grass field. The items on the list are used for classroom recesses, lunch recesses, and after school. If you happen to have any of these items lying around in your garage (and you are not using them), we would love to take them off of your hands.
Have a wonderful week! Don't forget, next Monday is Labor Day and there is no school that day. We will return Tuesday with a full day.
COVID-19 Update: COVID-19 Reporting and COVID-19 Testing
As we approach the end of our first month back on campus, we have adjusted the way in which we will communicate COVID-19 positive cases. In lieu of the whole school letters, we will move to a dashboard that will be linked to all three school websites*. The information will include the number of COVID-19 positive cases on our K-12 campus each week, as well as the number of cases that can be linked through contact tracing to on-campus transmission. Numbers for each week will be updated on Fridays.
We will continue to call parents of all close contacts when a COVID-19 case is reported.
Parents, moving forward, NP3 will offer COVID Testing on the following days of the week: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday. If you need to test for COVID on any other day, you can use the free location at Natomas Unified School District.
*NP3 Elementary will continue to send COVID-19 positive letters home to affected classrooms (only).
Leader in Me: Parents as Partners
One of our 5 Core Paradigms is that parents and teachers partner to support the whole child. What this means is that we value you as your child's first teacher. You know your student best. We would love to get your insights and feedback on what we can do to nurture this partnership as well as your ideas on what you would like to do as a partner in your student's education.
Attached and below are some ideas from Leader in Me to help facilitate that partnership.
I have good and bad news. What do you want first? Okay...bad...construction of the elementary school will not be complete by March 2022. We now anticipate moving in June 2022. The good news? Well, we do not have to move over a two-week break!
Volunteers on Campus:
I want to clear up any miscommunication out there...We would LOVE parent volunteers in the classroom and around campus. All volunteers must be COVID 19 Vaccinated and have completed a volunteer packet (below). If you have any questions, please contact Miss Aericka at the front office.

Thank you so much for considering donating to our 2-5 Playground. If you have items like these lying around your homes, we will happily take them off your hands!
Thank you so much for helping our littles! They are pretty hard on their toys and could use more equipment on their playground. If you have toys that are suitable for ages 4-8 and your kids have outgrown them, we would love them!
