Henry Hawk News
Start of 2nd Quarter: Week of November 9, 2020

Principal Gutierrez's Message
We are starting a new quarter with a warm weather forecast and the presidential election outcome where history has been made and one that will change the course of our country’s future. No matter what your political beliefs are, always remember that we are all here to support our students and build equity.
We will continue with remote learning this new quarter. Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Wednesday, November 18, 2020. Teachers will be reaching out to you to set a virtual conference time.
The original CPS calendar has been changed. We will have school on Veteran't Day, November 11, 2020.
Also as the Covid-19 numbers rise, please remember to stay safe and protect yourself and others by wearing a mask.
Stay well.

While we will begin the second quarter learning at home, our goal is to reopen school buildings for pre-k and students enrolled in moderate and intensive cluster programs later in the second quarter.
The availability of safe, in-person instruction for our most vulnerable students is an issue of equity, and that means we must address the challenges of COVID-19 head-on and provide our highest-need students with a safe and supportive learning environment. Read the full letter from the district to understand what this means for your family.

Counselor's Corner with Mrs. Garfinkel
Hello Henry Families,
I know it can be challenging to take care of yourself during these stressful and uncertain times. I am sure it was a challenging week for many of you with the election and Coronavirus rates on the rise. As a parent, you need to remember to still take care of yourself and your needs, even with your children at home. Here are some ways you can take of yourself:
1. Meditate (Good apps are Ten Percent Happier and Headspace)
2. Spend time in nature
3. Listen to music
4. Read a book...and even better join a book group (I would be happy to set one up for Henry parents)
5. Go for a walk
6. Write in a gratitude journal
7. Find time to be be with friends either at a safe distance or virtually
8. Spend a little money on yourself, even on something small
9. Take a break from electronics
10. Savor something like a cup of tea or coffee or a piece of chocolate
And also remember to exercise, eat well, and get sleep!
As a reminder, I want to make sure this information is meeting your needs, so please complete this survey as soon as you can:
