Reproductive System

The female reproductive system has two functions: The first is to produce eggs, and the second is to protect and nourish the offspring until birth. The male reproductive system has one function, and it is to produce and deposit sperm.


Spermatogenesis is the process in spermatozoa which are produced from male germ cells by way of mitosis and meiosis.


Oogenesis is the production or development of an ovum.
Disorders in the reproductive system

Ovarian cancer is a cancer that begins in the female organs that produce eggs. There are 20 thousand to 200 thousand cases in the US each year. Symptoms include pain in the abdomen or pelvis, bloating, indigestion, nausea, weight loss, or loss of appetite. Treatments include: Chemotherapy regimen; carboplatin by injection, see a radiologist, oncologist, or obgyn doctor.

Pelvic Inflammatory Disease is an infection of the female reproductive organs. There are 200 thousands to 3 million cases a year in the US. symptoms include pain in the pelvis or abdomen, inflammation, nausea, fever, chills, or fatigue.
